There’s something about a soft gradient of ink-blended colours, and when they are in a Neapolitan colour palette, well, you just can’t beat it as the perfect backdrop to some beautiful, detailed embossing. I keep a folder of background pieces I didn’t use from previous projects. I was rummaging through these to find the perfect piece to showcase the beautiful Darcy Bouquet embossing folder from the new release. As soon as I saw this panel, I knew it would fit the bill. The card is ink blended with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks in Scattered Straw, Dried Marigold, Saltwater Taffy and Frayed Burlap. The panel was leftover from this card which shows that it also looks beautiful with a heat-embossed design. The moral of the story is to keep those leftovers!

I ran the Darcy Bouquet stencil through my die-cutting machine, and look at that beautiful detail! I highlighted the embossing by rubbing white pigment ink over the raised areas with my finger. It’s back to childhood for me and finger painting, but I find I can direct the ink more carefully with the dexterity of my fingertips than I can with a blender brush or similar. 

I wanted a subtle sentiment for this card. It’s always my preference, as I like the background to shine. I die cut the Just A Note die set from Ivory card and Vellum. I glued the Ivory letters to the Vellum background and added tiny pieces of foam tape behind the lettering before adhering it to the card. I paired the die-cut with a greeting from the So Swell set stamped in Versamark on Slate card and white heat embossed. I trimmed the sentiment to a skinny banner and used more foam adhesive to attach it.

I finished the card by mounting the panel on an Ivory card base and then sprinkling with sequins and pearls.
