Phew, there’s already been a flurry of activity this month for STAMPtember! I keep a summary at the bottom of my posts this month, where I try to keep track of what has been happening. It is today’s much-awaited turn of Altenew for their STAMPtember collaboration with Simon Says Stamp. I have always loved Altenew’s flowers, and this Beautiful Lily set doesn’t disappoint.
I’ve linked all supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

You know me and flowers – I can’t resist! I know there are some lovely pink lilies, but I adore white ones. However, white flowers can be hard to paint, but if you create a darker background, you don’t need to put much work into making the white flowers appear on a white background. This technique, where you paint around an area in order to highlight it is called Negative Painting.

I painted around the flowers with water and added lots of green and blue paints and water to create bleeds and blends. I even popped some salt granules while the paint dried to create a textured background.

When the background was dry, I went in and painted the flowers. Then, I splattered it with leftover paint and white gouache and accented it with pearls.

I used a simple greeting from the Beautiful Lily set, stamped in Pinecone Ink, trimmed out and popped up with some of the new foam tape.

Wow! Your cards are always such precious treasures!!! You are truly amazingly talented!!! I get so much joy and inspiration just looking at your lovely creations! You truly outdid yourself with this beautiful card!! I hope you frame it or give it to a very special person in your life?? Someone really significant. I hope you are feeling better,?? Some time ago I read about you feeling very poorly and you had dropped off of the card making radar screen. I was very worried about you. Life is a very fragile thing and there is only one of you!!! Please take good care of yourself because many of us truly admire you and look up to your outstanding creations and accomplishments! God Bless you,,,!! Veronica in Canada
Thank you, Veronica. Yes, I had to take a step back for a while to look after a loved one going through treatment. I am enjoying being back now, though even though treatment is still ongoing. Creativity is a great healer I find. Take good care, Debby x
