I love the look of foil, but haven’t pulled out my Glimmer machine as often as I’d like. With the new Yay You release from Simon Says Stamp having a wonderful selection of foiling options, I got my self set up and had a play. I used the smooth 130lb white card from Simon to get lovely clean foiled results, but then when I wanted to pair the butterfly I chose with a background I had, I switched to foiling on watercolour card. You don’t get as clean a result, but it fits with my style more.

all on one card!
Having, a beautiful foiled butterfly, I die cut with the matching die and then started playing around with other things on my desk. I found a background I’d made when making this card – it uses the Soft Plaid Background stamped with watercolours and lots of water and splatter too.
The foiling plates are great for foiling as you’d expect LOL but they are also great for dry embossing. I ran the Intricate Floral Background plate through with an embossing sandwich and watercolour card. You get a lovely deeply etched impression of the plate. I cut a piece of this along with a slither of Gold Mirror card and then started playing around with possible arrangements.

I decided on a focal point top left of the card and to emphasise this and bring in more interest I used the Arches stencil and some Opaque Matte Texture Paste to give an extra layer of dimension and draw the eye to the butterfly.

Here, you can see the light catching the foil and showing off the dry embossed flower layer too. I put everything together on a Desert Storm card base with foam adhesive popping each layer up.

I finished off with a few gold sequins and white enamel dots.

Just look at that shine and dimension too! I can see my foiling machine staying on my desk from now on.

For the greeting, I picked a sentiment from the Reverse Wedding Sentiment Strips set, trimmed it out popped it on top with more foam tape.
