I’m on the Simon Says Stamp blog today for my monthly Doodling With Debby series. Oh, it’s been a while since I got the coloured pencils out! However, I really enjoyed painting the beautiful Mom’s Spring Flowers set the other day and wanted to use the pretty flowers again. Pencils on kraft is a firm favourite of mine and to help with getting those white flowers to pop I used a base layer of white gouache with coloured pencils over the top!

Using white gouache for the base layer of the flowers is a genius idea! I learn so much from your videos….I just wish my results were half as beautiful as yours!
I watched your video over on the Simon blog and LOVED it! I never thought to use white gouache for the petals first, then use colored pencils. I was writing down the Polychromos pencil colors you used. Faber Castell has renamed those 3 Flesh colors you talked about in the video. I went onto the Dick Blick website as I usually order from them as I am in the U.S. and here are the new names in case you are interested!
130 – Dark Flesh is now called Salmon
131 – Medium Flesh is now called Coral
132 – Light Flesh is now called Beige Red
Anyway, thank you for your video. So love what you did with the this card!
Oh I am so pleased to hear that those colours have been renamed. I’m glad you liked the video
WOW
