As I was sat out in my garden the other day I noticed subtle changes such as the poppy leaves dying back with just the seed pod heads bobbing around. In fact, there are more seed heads than flowers now in my garden! We are also drawing the curtains earlier too. All those signs that the season is about to change. Are you looking forward to sweater weather and cobwebs glistening in a morning dew? Or would you rather have more summer? LOOSE FALL WATERCOLOUR
I love to use my watercolours directly onto stamps to give a very loose, organic look. I picked a colour palette of Yellow Ochre and a Mossy Green and went to town, layering the stamped images over each other.
Did you know that things in the distance appear paler than those in the foreground? As such, I kept my first layers light and with lots of water spritzed onto them. Then slowly I built up the depth of colour as the plants came closer.

Pin Me
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
Oh wow I just loved this project Debby! Your posts and also your YouTube videos are amazing! I’ve been following you for your watercoloring projects for so many years now, the beginning days of your white embossing an image before watercoloring (those are still some of my favorites by the way) to your no line watercoloring and your artistic watercoloring style as well! I absolutely love your watercolor projects and truly look forward to your blog posts and videos!
Love watching your painting videos.
And yes, I’m ready for this horrible hot, smoky, dry summer in N Calif. to end. I miss the autumn season of rain and beautiful light, changing leaves, and crisp weather that we no longer have here.
This card is lovely. I’m so glad I purchased this stamp set as this is the second video I’ve seen using it and although both were completely different, I loved them both. Thanks for all your tips and techniques.
I am in awe of your mixed media approach to creating this fall garden scene, especially when you applied watercolor paints to the stamp for the lovely subtle background images. And the end result is absolutely stunning as it really embodies the look of the upcoming season. Thanks for sharing your beautiful work!
