Can you feel it in the air where you are? The first hint of autumn! I can certainly see the changes happening here already. Dewy, misty mornings, annuals dying back and berries ripening. The colours are changing too from bright, fresh greens to deeper hues as they prepare to put on their autumn finery. Have you guessed yet that I love autumn! A special addition to my love of autumn is the STAMPtember release and festivities over at Simon Says Stamp. I’ve linked all supplies with compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
SIMON SAYS STAMP STAMPTEMBER RELEASE
The STAMPtember release today from Simon Says Stamp is HUGE! As such I’m not going to put up a full list of what is available but suggest you pop over to Simon to see that or equally you can click here. What I thought I’d do is try and pick out some tips for what I think are going to be the hot products that fly off the shelf! So here you are, my choices from the new Simon release that I believe will be zooming out the door in everyone’s packages. I’ve included a few stamp sets, a couple of cling stamps, a couple of stand-alone dies and a trio of stencils:

If you are new around here, STAMPtember is a month-long party hosted at Simon Says Stamp. Today’s release is for the Simon exclusive products. These products, like any regular Simon release, will be restocked. However, Simon also collaborates with several other stamp companies to bring exclusive collaboration stamp sets. You will only be able to get these sets at Simon. The collaboration sets are released daily throughout the month of STAMPtember starting on 03 September. These stamp sets are limited edition, so when these stamp sets sell out, they aren’t restocked. In addition to the multiple releases throughout the month, there are lots of other fun activities planned. I hope you will have fun and join in the celebration that is STAMPtember!
AUTUMN LEAVES STENCIL
KEY INGREDIENTS
STEP BY STEP HOW TO
- Lay the Autumn Splendour stencil over a piece of Ivory card and tape down with a low-tack tape to keep in place.
- Using blender brushes of different sizes, blend autumnal hues of Distress Oxides through the stencil – Dried Marigold, Carved Pumpkin, Candied Apple, Forest Moss and Walnut Stain.
- Lift the stencil—Splatter the piece with white gouache, perfect pearls solution and gold paint.
- Trim to fit a square card base cut and scored from Fog card.
- Cut the Sending Smiles die twice from Ivory and once from gold mirror card. Glue the three die-cuts together with Gina K Connect glue and then glue to the card front.
- Embellish with enamel dots and Sugared Almond Nuvo droplets.
TAKEAWAYS
I do love a nice sharp outline with ink blending around, and the colours sing autumn! The warmth of the gold splatters added into my usual white gouache, and perfect pearl solution splatters also adds that little something to the sparkle. A bonus for those that are time-short is that ink blending is one of the quickest ways I know to make a card with impact. The Distress Oxides blend beautifully, and the colour palette is traditionally seasonal. Even without the leaf imagery if you saw these colours together, your mind would jump to thinking about warm cosy nights in front of the fire, and crisp first frosts.
