I’m living in a fantasy world where this cute Mushroom House is where I live! Can you imagine how cosy it would be? Perhaps a fire in the corner. Thinking about it, I should’ve added a little chimney to the top of the toadstool! This blog post is part of a hop to celebrate the new Lucky To Know You release from Simon Says Stamp. More on the hop below, but for now, let’s jump into the card. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
WOODLAND WATERCOLOUR
On Arches cold-pressed watercolour card, I used the Mushroom House Stencil to draw in pencil a faint outline to paint. Using the stencil, I added a door and window to the house and a couple of leaf fronds too. I lightly erased the pencil further, so only the barest of lines remained and then let my imagination take over while I painted with Daniel Smith watercolours. I used white gouache to highlight the spots on the top of the toadstool and also to add detail to the door. I splattered the panel with leftover paint and also a solution of Perfect Pearls and then set it aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card.
For the sentiment, I took a greeting from the Just Because set which co-ordinates with the previously released Word Mix 2 die set. I stamped the greeting in clear embossing ink on Simon Says Stamp vellum and embossed with Antique Gold powder before die cutting with the Word Mix 2 dies. I added teeny tiny strips of foam adhesive behind the gold lettering and then adhered the circle over the house.
I added the finished panel to a Neenah Desert Storm card base with Foam Adhesive.
MORE INSPIRATION
Here’s another card I made with the new release – a very clean and simple card letting the Inlaid Crosses die take centre stage. The sentiment comes from the Clean Lines Faith set from CZ Design. You can see more on this card in this blog post.
