Next up in my easy watercolour backgrounds series is this circle grid inspired by Catherine Côté, CeeCee on Instagram. In particular, this lovely grid of circles with various doodles over the top. CIRCLE GRID

I used the inspiration from CeeCee and drew a light grid on Arches cold-pressed watercolour card. Each square was 2.5cm x 2.5cm. I then used Winsor & Newton masking fluid and a dip pen to make various marks in some of the grids – dashes, dots, stripes, hearts and swirls. I left the masking fluid to dry fully and then painted a circle in each square of the grid using a subtle blue, green, blue-green combo of Daniel Smith watercolours. If you don’t have a masking fluid, you could paint all the circles first and then go over them with a white gel pen.

The Be Kind set from Simon Says Stamp has to be one of my all-time favourites! I love the size of the leaf images, their style, they just simply suit me down to the ground. I stamped one of the leaf images in Bundled Sage Distress Ink – stamping off first so that the outline is barely visible and then painted with the same subtle shades of watercolour. I fussy cut the leaves out and added them with foam adhesive to the circle grid. I added a twine bow and a triangle of sequins and pearls to accent.

For the sentiment, I used the Love & Valentine’s Word Mix set. I stamped the greetings in clear embossing ink on Ivory card and then heat embossed with Antique Gold Embossing Powder. I die cut the sentiments with the matching Word Mix 2 die and then chose which sentiment to add with foam adhesive as a label over the stem of the leaves. Finally, I foam mounted the panel to a Fog card base and paired it with a Moonlit Fog envelope.
