It’s time for my monthly video feature over at Simon Says Stamp – Doodling With Debby. The idea for this card came from my sister who messaged me to ask if I was going to do a watercoloured tartan heart for Valentine’s and so here we are! I kept the supplies really minimal – just use what you have to hand. I reached for Daniel Smith watercolours, Nested Heart dies and a sentiment strip. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.

This tartan heart is so warm and cozy…a great valentine image, Debby. I’ll be visiting the Simon Says blog for more info. tfs
Debbie, this is SO PRETTY! Your sister gave you a GOOD IDEA! When having to make so many Valentines, it’s nice to have an “easier” idea for one! ;) A SUPER IDEA!!! ;)<3
Really love this card Debby. The tartan heart really works well with the simplicity of the card. Love the colourway too. Beautiful!
So pretty! I love the colors!
So cute!
This card is amazing. I love how simple yet pretty it is. But my favourite is the matching envelope to go with it. Stunning! I also love how you stage your card. You always find the perfect elements to compliment your card!
Enjoyed the video for the process. I like the color choice and the addition of a strip of the background to the envelope. I don’t watercolor, but this makes me want to try.
Debby, I love your simplicity with this card. Very effective and heartwarming. When you say minimal supplies, it talks to what I need to focus on also. And Kristina W with her “Capsule Paper Crafting list” hit my interest list too. Maybe we have a new trend kicking in. I like it, I like it! No, I LOVE it!
Blessings!
Debby, this is just perfect! I love what you’ve created and I love that Harris Tweed heart as well. Do you mind giving a reference for the flat brushes you used? They seem perfect.
Thank you for sharing your lovely art with us. You’re always such an inspiration!
Cheers!
They are Escoda Versatil flat brushes :D Hope that helps!
It’s gorgeous Debby, it looks almost if you used a piece of fabric.
I love tartan and the way you used it here.
Thank you so much for sharing and have a great day.
