When I get a beautifully detailed botanical image such as the Botanical Heart set from Simon Says Stamp, my first thought is kraft on black. It’s such a classic combination and one I return to often. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
Here are a few other times I’ve called upon this classic black on kraft combination from top left:
You can probably tell that today’s card was influenced by the simply stamped notecards I did not that long ago using Hero Arts Antique Bee And Flowers. When time is short, and you fit in a moment of creativity around kids, work, health etc. the pressure can build up. You have this precious moment in time to make something and all of a sudden your mojo is no longer around to play ball. When this happens, I highly recommend surfing through pictures of the cards you’ve made to spark inspiration. You already know you like the style as you made them previously, so it is a gem of a resource already at your fingertips.
I took the Botanical Heart set and stamped the heart on a piece of Neenah Desert Storm card in Versafine Onyx Black ink. I splattered the panel with gold paint and white gouache and trimmed to fit on a card front. I wrapped the panel in twine and then foam mounted it to an Ivory card base.
For the sentiment, I stamped a greeting from the Botanical Heart set in clear embossing ink on Ivory card and heat embossed with Antique Gold Embossing powder before die cutting with a Nested Circle die. I added this to the card front over the twine and with a skinny strip of mirror gold card tucked in behind. I accented the card with a trio of pearls from Little Things By Lucy’s Cards.
