It’s time for the Simon Says Stamp monthly card kit, and I can’t wait to share the details of this kit with you! I’m not sure what is up with my postal service at the moment, but when the kit arrives, I’ll have some inspiration for you. Seriously though, check out that Stronger Together stamp set and watercolour pencils too! In the meantime, I am sharing a slice of spring from my garden – the Hellebores are blooming and looking particularly lovely. So I broke out the Even More Spring Flowers set from Simon Says Stamp which has a couple of beautiful Hellebore images. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. WATERCOLOURED HELLEBORES
I started this card by stamping the flowers and leaves from the Even More Spring Flowers set in Antique Linen Distress Ink on Arches Hot-pressed Watercolour Card but not before I’d stamped off on scratch paper first. I’m finding this method of stamping the barest outlines of ink gives me the best no-line watercoloured look. I do keep the stamp set beside me though and reference it if the lines are too faint in places. But overall I have a decent idea of where to paint and yet once painted you can’t see the lines. I used Daniel Smith watercolours to paint the flowers – lots of light layers and wet-in-wet technique to build up the colour. That delicious green is Perylene Green and I mixed that with various colours to get a variety of differing greens and blue greens to paint the leaves. Variation in colour really brings things to life. As for the pinky-purple of the flower. OK, let me admit my memory is pretty shot these days LOL. I made a note of Cobalt Violet Deep and I know this colour mixes well with reds and even more earthy colours to give lovely complex burgundies but I can’t be sure now as I write up this card quite what colours I used. Note to self – actually write down the colour mixes! The yellow for the flower centre is Yellow Ochre. Once dry I fussy cut around the images. I do like using matching dies, but often I can go outside the lines a bit when I’m painting, and then the image doesn’t fit as well within the boundaries of the die-cut, and so fussy cutting is a good option.
I mounted the florals with foam tape onto a Nested Tag die cut from Ivory card and stamped with a greeting from the Botanical Heart set in Versafine Smokey Gray ink. I tied the tag with Lawn Fawn twine and then added it to a Fog panel on which I’d stamped the You Are Background in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed.
This panel is in turn foam mounted on a card base cut and scored from Ivory card.
You can check out the Simon Says Stamp March Card Kit here and hopefully, I’ll be back soon with inspiration to share with you using the kit contents.

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
LOVE the deep violet and green colors! A very deep rich, warm feel that is just beautiful. The tag element on top of the word background really helps the sentiment pop. Wonderful design!
I cannot get enough of your watercolor cards. I strive, unsuccessfully, to replicate your style. I just think it is classy, simple yet elegant, warm and loving. Thank you for inspiring me!
The colour choice is amazing. I love the green and blue together for the leaves. And the flowers are so pretty paired with the background you are stamp! I can’t wait to try and copy this a similar stamp set I have.
I can’t wait to see what you create with the card kit! Being outside the USA I find packages take awhile especially from SSS. However, it;s good thing for me, as it saves me money, because first I have to wait for the package, then have fun playing with the products before making another order!
