Over the Christmas break, I had great fun playing with watercolour backgrounds. I’ve got some easy ones to share with you over the next few days, but I wanted to share this multimedia background with you first. It’s not as easy in a sense as it has more steps, but I love how it came out! I paired it with some new products from Simon Says Stamp’s Hey Bestie Release. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
SIMON SAYS STAMP HEY BESTIE RELEASE
First off, let’s take a look at the new Hey Bestie Release. This pairs well with the Love You More release from the end of last year.

MULTIMEDIA BACKGROUND
I started this card with the background and a loose light wash of muted lilacs and grey using Daniel Smith watercolours on Arches cold-pressed watercolour card. I partially stamped the You Are Background in Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide ink and spritzed with water to soften the overall effect. I then smeared Worn Linen Nuvo Expanding Mousse in a couple of places on the panel and used a heat tool to create the texture. This is a new to me product but one I really liked how it turned out. I dribbled more watercolour over the texture areas and then splattered the piece with Perfect Pearls Solution and white gouache. To finish, although I covered up so much of the background you really can’t see this part, I used the Bokeh Lights stencils and rubbed white pigment ink through with a Brush from Picket Fence Studios.
I stamped leaves from the new Be Kind set (love, love, love this set!) and watercoloured with Daniel Smith paints before trimming out.
I rubbed Ranger Multi Medium Matte in places on the leaves and sprinkled with Distress Mica Flakes. I then added these to the watercoloured panel with foam adhesive. You can see in the photo above the texture the Nuvo Expanding Mousse adds.
I paired the leaves with a Nested Tag – can I just say yes! I’ve been a long term fan of tags, and these nested ones give you so many choices! I cut the tag from Ivory card and stamped a greeting from the Like You Words set in Versafine Smokey Gray which I paired with the Like You dies cut from more Ivory card and foam mounted on the tag.
I tied the tag with Lawn Fawn Cloudy twine and added to the panel with foam tape. I added a few Pearls and hearts cut from a watercoloured piece with the Holiday Shapes die (an oldie but goodie).
I added the finished panel to a card base cut and scored from Ivory card.
SNEAK PEEK
Here’s a peek at a card I’ll be sharing on Saturday for a blog hop celebrating the new Hey Bestie release. It uses the same You Are Background stamp paired with the Peony Bouquet stencil and Miss You dies.

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
Beautiful card and so unusual! Thanks for sharing.
This card dazels me! I love that background you created and the foliage that is on top is so pretty with the soft water colour look. WOW! WOW! WOW!
You have created a stunning beauty. Is there a possibility that we will generate enough amazement and awe to encourage a video from you? Have you used this process on prior projects? Happy 2020!
Wow Debby there are quite a few steps to this but so worth it. You have such amazing talent.
