I love to watercolour a tartan and saw a lovely fall colourway on a phone case the other day that I took inspiration from for this card. My immediate thought with these beautiful Large Stitched Oak and Large Stitched Maple leaves was to watercolour them, but I think having the watercoloured pattern as a background and the leaves plain lets the intricate stitched detail of the leaves shine. Today’s post is part of a blog hop with offers and giveaways to celebrate the new Simon Says Stamp Cheer And Joy release. Please see the end of this post for the blog hop details. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
WATERCOLOURED FALL TARTAN
I started by painting the tartan with Daniel Smith watercolours on Arches Cold-Pressed watercolour card – Moonglow base followed by stripes in Indrathrone Blue, Quinacridone Violet, Sepia and Quinacridone Burnt Orange. I then die cut the panel with a Nested Circle die. I stamped a simple Thankful sentiment from the 30 Days Of Thankful 2019 set from CZ Design in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed.
I die cut the Large Stitched Oak and Large Stitched Maple leaves from more of the watercolour card and attached them with foam tape to the tartan circle along with a twine bow.
I swiped Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste through the Holiday Sweater stencil with a palette knife onto a Fog card base and then when dry added the watercolour focal point on top with foam tape.

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
Beautiful creation, love the watercoloured tartan!
As soon as I saw the new leaf dies in this release, my heart was happy! I LOVE leaves (and the trees from which they come!), so it is not surprising that I like your card featuring both new dies. This card is AMAZING, however, in all the details surrounding these leaves!! I am just speechless!
WOW!! Both cards are so beautiful!!
Both cards are so super beautiful!! I am in awe of your coloring once again!!
