Do you know that feeling of coming home? Well, this card had that feeling for me! The watercoloured florals and the embossing paste through a stencil; it all felt so ‘right’ for me. I used the Fabulous Florals set from Simon Says Stamp along with the super popular Tumbling Leaves stencil which is now back in stock. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. I’ve found myself creating a fair number of relatively flat cards recently – great for going through the mail, but I do love dimension and so for this card, I made sure to tick that box. I stamped a few of the images from the Fabulous Florals set in Antique Linen Distress Ink on Arches Cold Pressed watercolour card and painted with Daniel Smith watercolours. I then trimmed out the elements and set them to one side while I worked on the background panel.
The Tumbling Leaves stencil has rightly been very popular with its elegant design. I used it here for some subtle tone on tone dimension by placing it over a piece of Ivory card and then swiping through Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste with a palette knife. Once dry I added extra interest by splattering with Gold Heidi Swapp Color Shine.
I foam mounted the panel on a Fog card base and then piled on the floral elements keeping them in place with more foam adhesive. I added the main focal flower with a double layer of foam adhesive and also didn’t add foam adhesive to the ends of the leaf sprigs, flowers and berries so that I could gently form them upwards to give more dimension.
For the sentiment, I took the tag and greeting from the Just Because The Stamp Market STAMPtember set (sold out). I stamped the outline in Fog ink and then stamped the sentiment in clear embossing ink and heat embossed with Antique Gold embossing powder. I trimmed the tag out and tucked it into the flowers with foam adhesive. To finish I added a few Butterfly Kisses sequins and Hero Arts pink enamel dots.
