The clean and simple side of me loves a repeat pattern, and I enjoyed stamping and painting these pastel apples for this baby congrats card. I think the colours would suit either sex and their tones are perfect for the late summer/early autumn season. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. PATTERN REPEAT
I drew a grid in pencil on a piece of Arches Hot-pressed watercolour card to help me align the pattern and then took the small apple image from the Lunch Box Notes 2 set from Simon Says Stamp and stamped the apple repeatedly in Gina K Whisper ink.
I mixed a palette of autumn pastels using gouache combined with watercolours and set about painting the apples. I used slight variations in each apple to create interest – for one I left a gap in the largest leaf to represent a vein, for another I added a white highlight, for another white stripes and lastly for the pink apples I coated them with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and then sprinkled with Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Glitter. The changes in colour and details keep this pattern simple but still interesting.
For the sentiment, I painted another piece of hot-pressed watercolour card in pink and then when dry, stamped a greeting from the Clean Line Everyday set from CZ Design in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed. I then trimmed the piece to a banner and added over the apple pattern piece with foam adhesive.
I foam mounted the panel on a Desert Storm card base and accented with a trio of Duck Egg Blue Nuvo droplets.

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
Love your card Debby. It’s so different from anything else I’ve seen for a new baby and the colourway is a fantastic idea. Great if the sex of the baby is yet to be announced, the card can still be made in advance. It’s a really clever stamp set. It’s going on my list. I always seem to have an order on its way when I discover I need something else!
What a special card for a baby, love the idea and the used colours.
Thank you so much for sharing Debby.
I love this card! It is giving me so many ideas to us, as often the smaller stamps in my sets go unused. But I love the look! I also really like the rock candy on the pink! Its the little things that make the cards extra special to me.
