Hello! Today’s post is part of a blog hop to celebrate the new Believe In You release from Simon Says Stamp. More on the hop below, but for now let’s jump into these two cards I made with the same basic design. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
ONE DESIGN TWO WAYS
I started by making the cupcake card. I stamped the cake from the Birthday Sweets set in Antique Linen Distress Ink on Arches cold-pressed watercolour card and watercoloured with Daniel Smith paints. I accented with coloured pencils and then die cut with the matching die. I added Stickles glitter glue to the frosting on the cake and then set it aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card.
I watercoloured a loose peach background splattered with white gouache and then die cut with a Nested Circle die. I die cut a larger circle from Ivory card and foam mounted the watercoloured circle on top followed by the cupcake. I stamped the Scallop Waves Background in clear embossing ink on Desert Storm card attached a strip of patterned paper down one edge and foam mounted to an Ivory card base. I attached the focal point with more foam adhesive to the top left of the card.
For the sentiment, I stamped a greeting from the Birthday Sweets set in clear embossing ink on Black card and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny banner and adding below the cupcake. I accented the card with Pink Orchid and Bubblegum Blush droplets as well as a sprinkling of sequins.
My second card repeats the first except this time I used the dolphin from the Never Quit Swimming set and the Bee Happy set for the birthday greeting.
This time I accented with Dragon Scales and Cloud 9 droplets and more sequins.
So there you have it two cards with one overall design. Do you have a favourite of the two?
MORE INSPIRATION
I recently posted this card using three of the new dies – Sunflower Stem, Cosmos Stem and Daisy Stem along with a sentiment from the Thanks And Encouragement Word Mix set. Oh and there’s that Scallop Waves Background again – such a versatile stamp!

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
I like the flower stamps a lot, very realistic
These are so classy and beautiful. I love all the little accents you added to really make it stand out.
You always rock it, Debby.
Love your colorful flowers!
These are beautiful!
I love anything to do with the ocean, but in this case I have to say the cupcake card is my favourite. Maybe it’s the placement? I’m not sure.
Such a simple design but I really like it and the way it’s so easy to change the look just by changing the stamps. Thanks for sharing!
