Today’s post is part of a blog hop to celebrate the Rest & Refresh release from Simon Says Stamp. More on the hop below but for now let’s jump into this card using the Wildflowers set and a Distress Oxide ink blended background. I have to thank Kristina Werner for her Distress Oxide combinations I mixed up one of her combinations adding in Antique Linen for more warmth rather than Old Paper and combined this with Evergreen Bough and Black Soot, it is perfect for my muted colour palette, and I love it! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
WILDFLOWER SILHOUETTE
The Wildflowers set has two sizeable solid image wildflower borders. I took a piece of Neenah Solar White card 6 inches by 8 inches and blended the three Distress Oxide inks, Antique Linen, Evergreen Bough and Black Soot, using a Picket Fence blending brush. I splattered with White Gouache and Perfect Pearls.
I then stamped one of the borders over the Antique Linen area of the panel in Versafine Onyx Black ink; this ink is particularly great for highlighting the fine lines of these wildflowers, and the glow of the Antique Linen gives the impression of the warmth of the setting sun as dusk descends. I then trimmed the panel down to 3.25 inches by 7.5 inches and stamped a greeting from the Say It All Friend set above the wildflowers in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed. I also stamped a coordinating greeting from the set on a piece of card I’d blended Evergreen Bough onto and again white heat embossed. I trimmed this sentiment to a strip and added it along with a bit of Authentique Romance paper with Gina K Connect glue to the bottom of the panel. I added the panel to a Fog card base and accented the card with Cloud 9 Dream Drops, Duck Egg Blue Crystal Drops and Sea Breeze Jewel Drops to finish.
I attached the leftover piece of ink blended, and wildflower stamped card along with another strip of patterned paper with Gina K Connect glue to a piece of Fog card and then die cut with the Stitched Dress Up Tag die. I threaded black Hemtique twine through the tag and added a sentiment again from the Say It All Friend set stamped in clear embossing ink on Evergreen Bough ink blended card and white heat embossed which I trimmed to a strip and added over the tag with foam adhesive. Again I used the same trio of Nuvo droplets to accent the tag to coordinate with the card.
MORE INSPIRATION
For more inspiration, check out these two cards and matching envelopes I made without any colouring! The first concentrates on simply die cutting with the Anchor Tag Die and the second card uses simply heat embossing and the Your Light set.
