I have a couple of cards to share today which have no colouring at all! One concentrates on die cutting and the other on heat embossing and combined with a strong colour scheme which fits with the nautical theme they pack a big punch and yet are relatively quick and straightforward to put together. The stamps and dies I’m using today are part of a new Rest & Refresh release from Simon Says Stamp. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. SIMON SAYS STAMP REST AND REFRESH
Here’s a quick look at what is included in the new Rest And Refresh release.

SIMPLY DIE CUTTING
My first card concentrates on a classic anchor pattern cut using the Anchor Tag Die. I didn’t use the tag portion of the die, just the anchor which was the perfect size for combining six anchors cut from Simon Says Stamp Soft Navy, Schoolhouse Red and Neenah Solar White card.
I attached the anchors with foam adhesive to a Rounded Corner Rectangle cut from Fog card and then attached this panel to a Neenah Desert Storm base cut and scored from the 100lb weight for sturdiness.
For the sentiment, I picked a greeting from the Your Light set and stamped it in clear embossing ink on a Black card before sprinkling with white embossing powder and heat setting. I trimmed the piece to a skinny banner and attached over the anchors with more foam adhesive. I feel the use of neutral colours such as the Fog panel, Black sentiment strip and Desert Storm card base, tie in well with the nautical colours of the anchors.
Finally, I added Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets for a watery accent and then tied the theme together with a matching Gina K Cherry Red envelope, Antique Gold heat embossed with a compass image from the Your Light set.
SIMPLE HEAT EMBOSSING
My second card concentrates on heat embossing but with the same nautical colour scheme. I stamped the sailboat and accompanying greeting from the Your Light set in clear embossing ink on Soft Navy card and white heat embossed. I then lined up the compass to overlap the sails slightly and stamped again in clear embossing ink, and this time I heat embossed with Antique Gold embossing powder. I die cut the arrangement with a Rounded Corner Rectangle die.
For the background, I stamped the Anchors set in clear embossing ink on Fog card and white heat embossed. I trimmed the panel to be just smaller than an A2 card base and then wrapped with twine and foam mounted on a Neenah Desert Storm card base.
I foam mounted the navy sailboat accent over the twine and then stamped a coordinating greeting from the Your Light set on Schoolhouse Red card, white heat embossed, trimmed to a banner and added with foam adhesive underneath.
I finished the card with Pretty Pink Posh droplets and a matching Soft Navy envelope with Antique Gold embossed compass from the Your Light set.
You can check out the whole of the Rest & Refresh release here. There’s a two-day blog hop starting tomorrow, and I’ll be on day two on Saturday using the Wildflowers set. Here’s a sneak peek ;) I hope you’ll join me then!
