Today’s post is part of a blog hop to celebrate Hero Arts’ 45th birthday and the launch of their summer catalogue. Forty-five years isn’t that amazing! I have huge respect for Hero Arts with their community spirit supporting other retailers and their ethical and environmental policies. Some of my first stamps were Hero Arts, and I’ve continued to love their designs over the years. Today I have a couple of notecards thanking Hero Arts for being such a ray of sunshine in the stamping community. My cards use the Antique Bee And Flowers, Florals Sunflower and From The Vault Aged Shadow wood mount stamps. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. SIMPLY STAMPED NOTECARDS
My aim when I got these stamps was to watercolour the images (no surprise there!); however, the stunning fine lines and detail that you get when stamping with red rubber had me rethinking my plans. I love the look of black on kraft in a botanical style print effect, and so used this inspiration for my notecards.
I started on a piece of Neenah Desert Storm card and stamped the From The Vault Aged Shadow stamp in white pigment ink. I thoroughly dried the ink with a heat tool before stamping the Antique Bee and Flowers stamp in Versafine Onyx Black ink over the top. I then liberally splattered with white gouache and gold iridescent paint.
I cut the panel with a rectangle die, and foam mounted it on an Ivory card base with a strip of striped pattern paper down one side adhered with Gina K glue runner. I added a narrow strip of a gold card over the kraft panel which I kept in place with Gina K Connect Glue.
For the sentiment, I stamped a greeting from the You’re So Lovely set in clear embossing ink on Black card and white heat embossed. I trimmed to a skinny banner and adhered with foam adhesive over the Bee wreath. I also stamped the Antique Bee And Flowers image on the flap of a matching envelope and splattered with the same white gouache and gold paint.
As a final accent, I added a Golden Oval gem to the body of the bee. I love how this glows and picks up the colours of the gold splatter.
I pretty much repeated the process of the bee notecard for this sunflower one using the Florals Sunflower stamp. Again you get beautiful detail from the red rubber.
This time for the envelope I stamped the From The Vault Aged Shadow stamp in white pigment ink sideways on the envelope and then stamped the sunflower offset to leave room for the address. I added a narrow strip of the patterned paper and gold card to tie in with the card.
I used the same sentiment from the You’re So Lovely set, white heat embossed on a Black card. On hindsight, I perhaps should have stamped the sentiment on the envelope too.
I used the same Golden Ovals to accent the sunflower as I did the bee’s body. I spaced a few ovals around the base of the sunflower petals, with one gem roughly every other petal.
Again, I love how this simple accent ties in with the gold elsewhere on the card.
So there you have it, two simply stamped notecards with two matching envelopes.
Quick and easy to stamp and a few of these together would make a great gift set too.
