Give me a beautiful floral to colour and I’m happy and even better is when the stamp set is so well designed with a sentiment that is a perfect fit, well then I’m even more content! Mother’s Day has already passed here in the UK, but I couldn’t resist this new Mother’s Day set from Honey Bee, and I’ll tuck this card away to use for next year. Thinking of Mother’s Day around the world, I do particularly like that this set has Mama/Mom/Mum/Mommy/Mother which hopefully caters for everyone. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. WATERCOLOURED MOTHER’S DAY
I took a piece of cold pressed watercolour card and stamped the Mother’s Day greeting in the top centre of the panel in clear embossing ink and heat embossed with Antique Gold embossing powder. I then nestled the floral sprig underneath and stamped in Antique Linen Distress Ink; being a pale, water reactive ink, this disappeared as I painted.
I used Daniel Smith watercolours and mixed up a palette of:
- Blue/purple anemones – Ultramarine Blue with a touch of Quinacridone Rose
- Leaves – Undersea green with Lunar Black for depth
- Branch – Sepia
- Berries – Quinacridone Gold with Quinacridone Coral for adding a rose blush to the berries
I added white gouache details and a few Irridescent Gold droplets. Once dry I added a few deeper shadows and line definition with sharp Faber Castell pencils.
I added the panel to a Fog card base with foam adhesive and then accented with Enchanting and Treasure Chest sequins, Nuvo Pale Periwinkle droplets and Glossy Accents on the berries.
Again, I do love a stamp set which has done all the work for you and the large floral sprig with a perfectly nestled sentiment in this Mother’s Day set from Honey Bee makes life easy! You can check out the other new products just released from Honey Bee here.

Absolutely beautiful!
Debbie I am loving your style, and the colors that you choose to watercolor with. You have a particular style that is just beautiful to me and I admire your skill and creative gift. Thank you.
LOVE the colors! Your no-line painting technique is spot-on! Just BEAUTIFUL! I think the fog card stock really makes the flowers pop- it is an excellent choice and I will be using this more, thanks to your examples.
Beautiful card Debby. Love your no-line watercolour technique and the colours you chose to work with. Thank you for sharing.

What a great card, your colouring is awesome and here, in The Netherlands, Mother’s day is still to come, so great inspiration. Thank you so much Debby.
