Today’s post is part of a blog hop organised by Simon Says Stamp to celebrate the incredible women in your life. Along with the hop, Simon has released two new stamp sets; Incredible Woman and Good Job Mama (stamp and die set). Today I’m using the Incredible Woman set, and I love how the set highlights the names of woman be that Mother, Mum, Mama, Grandma or Aunt with words which represent them. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
INK BLENDED STRIPES
I wanted the sentiment for this card to be the main focus and easily legible. I did try watercolouring the stripes for this card, but the texture of watercolour that I love, made it difficult to read – not what I was aiming at. So instead for my stripes, I pulled out a palette of dye inks; Hot Lips, Cotton Candy, Fossil and Clementine. I used Masking Paper to mask off each line and then generously applied the ink with a Blending Brush (love these brushes for smooth blending). I varied the width of the stripes slightly and also added in a few white stripes for interest too.
I then stamped the sentiment over the stripes with clear embossing ink and white heat embossed. I also stamped a few of the delicate blooms and leaves around the sentiment too, again in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed.
I added the panel to a white card base with foam adhesive and finished with a splatter of white gouache and a trio of Nuvo droplets in Sugared Almond, Bubblegum Blush and Simply White.
I do love a clean and simple card. The colourful stripes are a fun way to add interest and yet clearly allow the white embossed sentiment and delicate blooms to shine.
