Today’s post is part of a blog hop to celebrate the new Fresh Bloom release from Simon Says Stamp. More on the hop below, but for now let’s jump in to process for this layered watercolour card featuring the gorgeous Pretty Peonies Background set combined with the Triangle Blast stencil and a sentiment from the Buttercup set. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used where possible at no cost to you.
LAYERED WATERCOLOUR BACKGROUND
I started this card by stamping the Pretty Peonies Background stamp in clear embossing ink on Arches Hot Pressed watercolour card (its smooth texture makes for a good stamped impression) and white heat embossed.
I loosely painted the background with Daniel Smith watercolours. In particular:
And then splattered with leftover paint, Perfect Pearls solution and also white gouache.
Once the watercolour was dry, I swiped Moonstone Glimmer Paste over the Triangle Blast stencil. The sparkle on this card is unbelievable, and I really like how the graphic triangles play over the soft floral background.
For the sentiment, I stamped a fun greeting from the Buttercup set in clear embossing ink on Vellum and white heat embossed before trimming to a banner. I folded the vellum over the top of the watercoloured panel and secured on the reverse, and then a skinny piece of foam adhesive behind the white embossing helped to keep the vellum in place. Finally, I added the finished panel to an Ivory card base and embellished with sequins and pearls.

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
Very creative using the Nuvo paste to add texture to your card.
Really love this technique. I can’t wait to try this. Beautiful Debby.
This card took my by surprise! I would have thought that a green, yellow, red color combo would have felt too much like traffic lights to me, but I love how your piece turned out. And I’m always a big fan of soft florals juxtaposed with very geometric patterns, so the triangle overlay makes me so happy. Thanks for sharing with us!
Thanks so much for using the new tree stamp! I love trees and always enjoy seeing new ways to use them in card designs! Your card is perfectly lovely! I may try this idea myself! :)
Wow! What a beautiful card! I love the effect of the stencilled paste over the beautiful flowers!
I love all the texture on the first card!! And the ink blending on the other two is so beautiful!
