Today I have this clean and bright Christmas card to share with you which uses a traditional design of pine branch and a trio of ornaments but using a more contemporary colour scheme to bring it up to date. I’m also helping Tonic Studios celebrate Nuvember – more details on that below. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.

I blended Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick into the top of a panel of Neenah Solar White card. I then splattered a dilute pink watercolour mixture over the top of the panel but found that the dilute mixture reacted with the Distress Oxide ink to leave white rather than pink splatters. So I mixed a deeper pink and splattered that before dabbing off any excess with a paper towel. After which I splattered with white gouache from Winsor & Newton and Iridescent Gold watercolour from Daniel Smith.
I set the panel aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card. I used the Ornamental set from CZ Design and Simon Says Stamp to stamp a trio of baubles on Gold Dust card from Crafters Companion. I stamped the ornaments and decorative elements with clear embossing ink, and then white heat embossed before die cutting with the matching die.
I die cut the Pine Needle Trio dies from white card and rubbed Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive on them before dunking in Rock Candy Distress Glitter from Tim Holtz. To take the baubles up a notch, I added Nuvo Crystal Glaze and used a craft pick to move the glaze around to where I wanted it to be – right to the edges of the embossed lines but not outside of them. Then with the baubles wet with the glaze I left them on the flat surface of the craft mat and walked away. Believe me don’t be tempted to keep touching them to see if they are dry, walk away until the glaze has fully dried and gone from a milky colour to crystal clear and if you do you’ll be left with a beautiful smooth as glass shine to your ornaments.
I used foam adhesive to add the panel to a white card base and then to add the pine branches and ornaments too. For the sentiment, I blended Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide onto a piece of white card and then die cut the Merry die from it. This die set also comes with a shadow to the word which I die cut from white card and then used Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive to adhere one to the other. I again foam mounted this onto the card.
Finally, to embellish the card further, I added gold sequins from Little Things From Lucy’s Cards held in place with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive and then dotted around droplets of Nuvo Rosewater, Morning Dew and Simply White.

Absolutely Lovely!
WOW this is a little gem Debby. The ornaments are lovely hanging from the pine boughs.
This card is so pretty! I’m not usually a fan of pink but it looks lovely with the white boughs and gold ornaments. Thanks for sharing.
Love the colours you’ve used today.
Being in Australia, Christmas is so very hot and I love these soft cool colours.
Still very Christmasy though.
Cheers
Lisa
It took some getting used to, but I still think the card has become very beautiful despite the non-traditional colors.
