I usually pair snowflakes with blues, but for my card today I went with some green hues for a woodland winter scene. This post is part of a blog hop to celebrate the new Fun & Festive release from Simon Says Stamp. I’ve more details on the hop below but for now, let’s take a closer look at this card. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I watercoloured a loose background using PinkFresh liquid watercolours – Sapphire and Key Lime. Although the PinkFresh watercolours are vibrant, they can still create beautiful soft, muted looks too. On top of the watercolours, I stamped the Mod Trees Background in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed. I used Cold Pressed watercolour card for the watercolouring and so the heat embossing isn’t perfect, but actually, I think these slightly distressed trees fit with the overall look. I splattered with leftover paint and some white gouache and then set aside to dry.
I die cut two Alicia snowflakes, one from Ivory card and one from a card I’d watercoloured with the same PinkFresh paints. I also die cut a Rina snowflake from Ivory card and then rubbed Ranger Multi Medium Matte over them and dunked them in Tim Holtz dry distress rock candy glitter – my favourite way to take a snowflake up a notch, just look at that sugary sparkle!
For the sentiment, I stamped a beautiful greeting from the Christmas Wishes set in clear embossing ink on Slate card and trimmed to a banner before foam mounting over the watercoloured background. I then tucked the three snowflakes around the sentiment piece and embellished with Pink & Main silver glossy dots and Pastel Paradise sequins. The finished panel is foam mounted on an Ivory card base. I love the off-white colour of Ivory card as it tends to match better with a watercolour card than pure white does.
I’ve been busy the last couple of days sharing cards using new products from the release. This card uses one of Suzy Plantamura’s Paintable Prints – these are a fabulous way to create quick and easy holiday cards at this time of year. I used more glittery Rina snowflakes and a sentiment combined using the Merry die and a sentiment strip from the Ornamental set to cover up a mess I made of the original sentiment on the card ;) You can read more about this card in the full post here.
This card hits all my cute buttons! The Picture Book die series is as popular as ever and my card uses the Big Picture Book Puppy as well as the Big Picture Book Standing Body and Big Picture Book Tails – yes, there are bodies and tails for all your critter needs now too! I created a Christmas Sweater-look using the Critter Sweaters set, and more love for the Rina snowflake die paired with a greeting from the Tiny Words Christmas set. You can read more about this card in the full post here.
