Every year I make a holiday card similar to this with watercolour over white heat embossing and silver accents and each year I love making it! I don’t think there is a need to reinvent the wheel each time and so I enjoy making this style of card each and every year and they are well received too. As the seasonal products come in, I keep an eye out for the perfect set for this type of card and when I saw the GinaK STAMPtember collaboration set, Joy Of The Season, I know I’d found my set for the year! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
JOY OF THE SEASON

The Joy Of The Season set can be bought for $69.95 including the dies or $24.99 as a standalone stamp set.
There are two snowflakes in the Joy Of The Season set and I stamped them over a hot pressed piece of watercolour card several times with clear embossing ink and then white heat embossed. I then brought over the glossy smooth heat embossed snowflakes a layer of intense blue watercolour. The heat embossing resists the watercolour to leave an ethereal fall of snowflakes amongst the blue. This background was painted with just one colour – Daniel Smith Phthalo Turquoise. I splattered the panel with more of the blue paint and also white gouache and then set aside while I worked on the rest of the card.
A watercolour card is generally an off-white in colour and I’ve found that the best match for stamping and card bases is an Ivory card and so I stamped the ornament image three times on Ivory card in clear embossing ink and sprinkled with Silver embossing powder before heat setting. I then fussy cut around the baubles but before I mounted them on the watercoloured panel, I stamped a greeting from the set in clear embossing ink on vellum and white heat embossed before trimming to a banner and wrapping around the panel and securing on the back – no need for adhesive on the front showing through the vellum. Then I foam mounted the three ornaments and added a sprinkling of sequins to finish.

Debby your card is gorgeous! I am definitely going to try one like this asap, thanks for the inspiration.
Almost hard to believe you got that big a variety of blues on the background from just one colour. I’m with you in loving silver & blue. Beautiful card!
