I’m back today with a look at more of the products in the Friendly Frolic release from Simon Says Stamp. I’ve always been a fan of tags and tabs, and so I was delighted to see the new Tabbed Sentiments set along with the Simple Tabs dies from Cathy Zielske. I combined these with the Big Happy dies to create greetings for simple watercoloured backgrounds using PinkFresh Liquid Watercolours and the Folk Dance Background set. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
Starting with the backgrounds, I recently got the PinkFresh liquid watercolours, and I will write an in-depth review soon, but in the meantime, I am simply enjoying experimenting with these clean, translucent and vibrant watercolours. I wet two panels of Arches Hot Pressed watercolour card and then used a soft brush to bring in the watercolours. For the blue-green panel, I used Sky Blue, Key Lime and Aquamarine and for the yellow-orange panel, I used Sunshine and Clementine.
When dry, I stamped the Folk Dance Background in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed to create a lovely elegant pattern over the swirls of watercolour. I trimmed the panels down to fit on a card base just slightly smaller than an A2 card. I decreased the size of the card base so that when the tabbed greeting was added on the side, the card would still fit in a standard envelope.
For the greeting, I cut the Big Happy die from a toning orange card from my stash and the shadow from Ivory card (matches the heat embossing better than pure white). I added one over the other with adhesive and foam mounted on the watercolour panel before coating the word in Crystal Glaze for added shine on this clean and simple card. I die cut one of the smaller Simple Tabs dies, and white heat embossed the Hello sentiment from the Tabbed Sentiments set. I then adhered this to the underside of the watercolour panel.
I repeated the steps for the greeting for the blue-green card but this time using Audrey Blue card to tone.
As a final touch, I added a trio of Celosia and Summer Gold sequins to accent the sentiment.
For the blue-green card, I used my favourite Butterfly Kisses and Hello Summer sequins.
I enjoyed making these clean and simple cards with a pop of colour. You can check out the full Friendly Frolic release here and the PinkFresh Liquid Watercolours here.
MORE FRIENDLY FROLIC INSPIRATION
Back to school time is around the corner and I used the new School Bus Messages set combined with the previously released bear from Encouraging Animals and the bird from Cuddly Critters Accessories sets. You can check out the full post here.
Tomorrow, I will be joining a blog hop to celebrate the new Friendly Frolic release, and I have a card to share colouring the gorgeous Sketch Lotus Flowers with pencils on kraft.

Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
The tabs are a cute addition!!
Love all the cards, but especially those you made using the Folk Dance stamp. I bought the stencil when you used it some months ago and now I see that there are several more items that I need to add the my stash. The card using the School Bus Message stamp is really cute, love how you constructed your image. Thank you again for sharing your ideas and techniques.
Debby both of your cards are stunning. I love the coordinating tabs on the sides, such a great touch!
These are just beautiful Debby.
Love the cards! They are all so colorful and they brightened up my day!!
Love these beautiful cards! And the glossy big titles rock them! Can”t wait for the hop.
Fabulous! Is Crystal Glaze easier to add than Glossy Accents?
Hi Jean, I find I can get more dimension with Glossy Accents, however, Crystal Glaze is slightly more liquid and therefore easier to apply and you get a smoother finish. Love them both!
Such great ideas! Thanks for the inspiration, love your work.
These are so pretty
Fantastic set of cards Debby, do you buy your SSS products directly from SSS? I find that their delivery fee to the UK is quite a lot of money. If you purchase them elsewhere in the UK could you let me know thank you I would really appreciate that. I love that you have used the tabs on the water coloured cards in such a fantastic way. I would never have thought of that but certainly will do in the future. The back to school bus is so much fun and with the amount of critters I have I could have two different critters in the windows for a large amount of school buses. Finally, the pencil coloured Water lilies absolutely stunning Debby! I think that I will have to try out my Prismocolor Pencils on Kraft too and see what results I get. Thank you for all the inspiration in this blog post. :O) xx
I do buy directly from SSS for my craft supplies. I find that the price of items in the US is cheaper than here in the UK and that helps to negate the postage costs. In addition, the choice is so much wider. Hope that helps :D
