I seem to be having a phase of revisiting white heat embossing on vellum recently. The combination of the two, for me, gives a soft, elegant addition to any project be it for a sentiment strip or in this case a focal point to accent the most beautiful patterned papers. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I was swooning over the Bo Bunny Early Bird papers in the August Simon Says Stamp Card Kit and knew I wanted to use those as a key element on my card. When I came to use the two stamp sets included in the kit, I wanted them to accent rather than overpower the papers. The Mandy’s Flowers set has stunning garden inspired images, and my first reaction was to watercolour them. However, I changed my mind and stamped the ‘Farm Fresh’ image in clear embossing ink on vellum and white heat embossed before trimming with scissors. It can be hard to capture a light, airy card with soft colours in a photograph but I felt the white heat embossed vellum worked so well with the papers creating an elegant accent without taking over and dominating the card.
I added a panel of the blue Bo Bunny patterned paper with foam adhesive on a white card base, popped on a strip of the loverly floral paper and then to ground the jar, I stamped the Modern Rose Blooms set included in the kit on Neenah Desert Storm card in clear embossing ink to give a tone on tone effect and I added a strip of this across the bottom. Finally, as far as the patterned papers were concerned, I die cut an Envelope Liner from the pretty yellow bird paper and slipped it inside a white envelope.
For the sentiment, I stamped two of the coordinating greetings strips from Mandy’s Flowers on a green card in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny banner. I then added these overlapping the vellum flowers with foam adhesive.
My new favourite sequins are the Butterfly Kisses mix from Simon Says Stamp – the soft iridescent colours toned perfectly and added just a hint of sparkle.
You can check out the August Card Kit here and not be forgetting that the Mandy’s Flowers, Modern Rose Blooms sets and Bo Bunny Early Bird papers can be purchased separately as can many of the kit contents.
