Every summer I think I will have more time without the term-time commitments and every summer I am proved wrong and time flies and before you know it we are looking at the rapidly approaching start of a new term! This summer has been no exception, and here we are just a couple of weeks to go until the schools go back. With that in mind, the School Bus Messages stamp and die set was front and foremost on my desk when the new Friendly Frolic release from Simon Says Stamp arrived. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
SIMON SAYS STAMP FRIENDLY FROLIC RELEASE
Here’s a closer look at the new Friendly Frolic release.
|
I was delighted to see lots of different styles and choices in the Friendly Frolic Release. You can see below some of the new products that I reached for straight away but also on my hit list are the Picture Book dinosaurs – I’m always a sucker for cute dinos! The Picture Book sea animals are also the sweetest and would make a lovely summertime scene. A couple of sets I want to get my watercolours on are the Earth Has Music and Plantiful Puns too.
BACK TO SCHOOL!
I started by stamping the bus from the School Bus Messages set in Intense Black ink on Neenah Solar White card and die cut with the matching die. I decided it would be fun to have a driver for the bus and so I dug through my critter stash until I found that the bear from the Encouraging Animals set was the perfect fit. He’s holding a flower, but the round of his tummy and the uppermost petal, when stamped in the bus window, look like he’s holding a steering wheel. I masked everywhere but the window and stamped the bear in Intense Black ink. I also stamped the crazy bird from the Cuddly Critters Accessories set as if he is taking a ride on the bonnet of the bus.
I coloured the bus with Copic Markers and then used a white gel pen to add a few highlights. I also added a couple of googly eyes to the bird and black glaze pen to the bear’s nose and eyes for a little extra fun.
I added Crystal Glaze to the lights, wing mirrors, bumper and grill for extra shine, interest and dimension.
I foam mounted strips of patterned paper from Bo Bunny & Carta Bella on a Neenah Solar White card base. I then stamped a coordinating sentiment from the School Bus Messages set in clear embossing ink on Slate card and white heat embossed before trimming at an angle to give the impression of a road. I added the sentiment to the bottom of the card, and then foam mounted the bus on top.
MORE INSPIRATION COMING SOON!
I’ll be sharing more inspiration over the next couple of days. I love tags and tabs, and I’m delighted to see the Tabbed Sentiments and Simple Tabs dies from Cathy Zielske. Tomorrow I will be sharing two cards using tabs to create part of the greeting and also using the new Folk Dance Background with PinkFresh liquid watercolours.
Then, moving on to Saturday and I will be joining a blog hop to celebrate the new Friendly Frolic release, and I have a card to share colouring the gorgeous Sketch Lotus Flowers with pencils on kraft.
I hope you will join me over the next few days. In the meantime, if you want to check out the full Friendly Frolic release, you can do so here.
