Today’s post is part of a blog hop to showcase the new Good Vibes release from Simon Says Stamp. More on the hop below. I created this no line watercoloured card using the Strangeness stamp set along with the Big Friend dies. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
NO LINE WATERCOLOURING
It is no surprise to regular visitors here that I love to watercolour, everything and anything, but give me beautiful flowers to colour such as those in the Strangeness set and I’m particularly happy!
I stamped the large floral image from the Strangeness stamp set in Antique Linen Distress Ink along the top of a panel of Arches Cold Pressed watercolour card and painted with my favourite Daniel Smith watercolours.
Among others, I used Quinacridone Coral with Quinacridone Gold for the peonies, Ultramarine Blue for the small flowers and Undersea Green and Sepia for the leaves.
I don’t often paint birds, but I wanted to give it a try, and so I stamped the image again in Antique Linen Distress Ink on Cold Pressed watercolour card and used Ultramarine Blue and Sepia to watercolour.
I then fussy cut around the bird (although there is a matching die available) and foam mounted him flying in front of the flowers.
For the sentiment, I used the Big Friend dies and die cut both the word, and it’s shadow from more Cold Pressed watercolour card. I then pressed Clear Embossing Ink over the word, sprinkled with Antique Gold embossing powder and heat set until smooth. I repeated this a second time to get the best result. I then adhered the die to its shadow die with Nuvo Deluxe adhesive and foam mounted below the bird.
I stamped a coordinating sentiment from the Four Seasons Sayings set in clear embossing ink on Slate card and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny banner and adding with foam adhesive. I added the panel to an Ivory card base and finished with a trio of toning sequins help in place with Nuvo Deluxe adhesive.

Also from the new release is this stunning Beachy Waves set. I had great fun the other day playing with this set and a faux watercolouring technique. You can find the blog post for this card here.

Debby, your watercolor is absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful card.
Your water card looks so alive I just want to dive in.
Beautiful artwork as usual. Your talents are unending.
So I have tried the no line watercolouring before. Didn’t turn out anywhere near this pretty! So beautiful! And such talent!
Hi Debby! Your first card’s water coloring was subtle yet vibrant and the second card was the picture of summer should be sun and water :) TFS!
Debby! I love to water color but unfortunately have been restricted to prang up to this point!
Absolutely beautiful, Debby – your cards are works of art! I do love to watercolor and my daughter gave me a small set of Gansai Tambi – I can’t wait to give them a try. Thanks for the chance to win! ♥
