SIMON SAYS STAMP GOOD VIBES RELEASE
Let’s take a look at what is included in the new release.

FAUX WATERCOLOURING
I was drawn to the Beachy Waves cling background stamp. A while ago I created a card by freehand drawing lines of masking fluid and then watercolouring. I can say that this card I made in a similar style is a lot easier to create! When I first saw the Beachy Waves stamp, I thought it would be the lines that you would stamp leaving large open areas to colour, and I planned to white heat emboss these and then watercolour over the top. However, it is, in fact, the reverse with large areas of red rubber to ink up and leaving the white lines. This leaves it open for lots of fun techniques.
Many moons ago the wonderful Shari Carroll talked me through inking up a stamp with a large surface area and then spritzing with water to give a faux watercolour look. I had great fun with this Beachy Waves stamp and this technique. I used a stamp positioning tool so that I could stamp each area in turn. I inked up the sea with Salty Ocean, Pine Needles and Broken China Distress Inks, wiped away any stray ink from the sun and sky and then spritzed with water and stamped onto Hot Pressed watercolour card.
I then repeated the process for the sun using Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks. Finally, I stamped my last layer with a touch of Tumbled Glass for the sky. I enjoyed playing around with letting the Squeezed Lemonade of the sun spread rays into the sky and also added a few yellow sunlight reflections in the sea too. I stamped this scene, again and again, experimenting with everything from a distinct globe of the sun in a blue sky with no yellow reflections in the sea to the other extreme with lots of bleeding of the colours and lots of yellow in the sea. This was my favourite piece with a little bleeding of the colours and just a few sunlight reflections. I’ve been debating whether to say what my youngest son said about too much yellow in the sea … but I am sure you can guess the humour of a 14-year-old boy … I finished the watercolour with a good splattering of sparkling Perfect Pearls solution, and when dry I die cut the panels with a Wonky Rectangle.
For the sentiment, I combined a white die cut “miss you!” using the letters from the Miss You Block – this block looks great die cut as a stand-alone banner but I didn’t want to cover up too much of the sun so chose to use just the letters which I foam mounted. I added a complementary sentiment from the Vacation Time set stamped in clear embossing ink on Slate card and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny banner and adding with more foam adhesive.
I added the watercoloured panel to a white card base and accented with Pretty Pink Posh Clear Droplets.

Gorgeous sunny card, thank you Debby.
You sure captured a fun daytime beach water scene! I can picture being at the beach at noon by looking at your card!
Beautiful! I really love the beach wave stamp and want to try this technique. I wouldn’t even know how to craft on the go! I do bring a Traveler’s Notebook along. I also collect little things here and there to add in the notebook or use on a scrapbook page.
I LOVE the no-line watercolouring. Looks so beautiful! :-)
Your work is amazing!
so beautiful
Your cards just make me feel the warmth of the sun & hear the waves crashing! I’m planning on stamping some images & then using my new brush markers to do a bit of on the go water colouring.
Totally awesome! You made it look so great!
