SIMON SAYS STAMP GOOD VIBES RELEASE
Let’s take a look at what is included in the new release.

FAUX WATERCOLOURING
I was drawn to the Beachy Waves cling background stamp. A while ago I created a card by freehand drawing lines of masking fluid and then watercolouring. I can say that this card I made in a similar style is a lot easier to create! When I first saw the Beachy Waves stamp, I thought it would be the lines that you would stamp leaving large open areas to colour, and I planned to white heat emboss these and then watercolour over the top. However, it is, in fact, the reverse with large areas of red rubber to ink up and leaving the white lines. This leaves it open for lots of fun techniques.
Many moons ago the wonderful Shari Carroll talked me through inking up a stamp with a large surface area and then spritzing with water to give a faux watercolour look. I had great fun with this Beachy Waves stamp and this technique. I used a stamp positioning tool so that I could stamp each area in turn. I inked up the sea with Salty Ocean, Pine Needles and Broken China Distress Inks, wiped away any stray ink from the sun and sky and then spritzed with water and stamped onto Hot Pressed watercolour card.
I then repeated the process for the sun using Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Inks. Finally, I stamped my last layer with a touch of Tumbled Glass for the sky. I enjoyed playing around with letting the Squeezed Lemonade of the sun spread rays into the sky and also added a few yellow sunlight reflections in the sea too. I stamped this scene, again and again, experimenting with everything from a distinct globe of the sun in a blue sky with no yellow reflections in the sea to the other extreme with lots of bleeding of the colours and lots of yellow in the sea. This was my favourite piece with a little bleeding of the colours and just a few sunlight reflections. I’ve been debating whether to say what my youngest son said about too much yellow in the sea … but I am sure you can guess the humour of a 14-year-old boy … I finished the watercolour with a good splattering of sparkling Perfect Pearls solution, and when dry I die cut the panels with a Wonky Rectangle.
For the sentiment, I combined a white die cut “miss you!” using the letters from the Miss You Block – this block looks great die cut as a stand-alone banner but I didn’t want to cover up too much of the sun so chose to use just the letters which I foam mounted. I added a complementary sentiment from the Vacation Time set stamped in clear embossing ink on Slate card and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny banner and adding with more foam adhesive.
I added the watercoloured panel to a white card base and accented with Pretty Pink Posh Clear Droplets.

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
Wonderful projects and really fun technique! I have never prepared anything for crafting on the go. I usually craft only at home :) Thanks for the chance to win!
This is a stunning card and there are so many great new stamp sets! I do most of my crafting at home, but I do have some images stamped out and a small bag of colours and scissors, I take whenever I go away! Thanks so much for the wonderful inspiration and the chance to win, Debbie!
Boys what are the like Debby? LOL I love what you have done with this card design, I would love to have a go at the faux water colour technique too. Has Shari Carroll got a video tutorial on this technique Debby? I was thinking about the question you were asking – How do I plan to stamp on the go? Well the main place that I stamp on the go is the Oncology Ward, J80 where I have my chemotherapy each week. My friend who is also a stamper has helped me out with this, she has recently purchased all the new coloured inks and refils from Stampin Up. I purchased the empty ink spots and she has filled these up for me with the new ink colours so that I can take just a few stampin ink spots when i am having my chemo. My hubby has also just recently purchased me a bag that I can hold all my Spectrum Noir Alcohol pens in. This is very useful for on the go because I can put this over my shoulder on the strap and I can still walk with my two sticks. I have to think about logistics like this. I am looking forward to doing some preparation work whilst I am having my chemotherapy. When do you do your preparation Debby? Till Friday. :O)
I craft with a group of ladies weekly. My rolling cart stays packed with DP, card bases and fronts. I have mini inks in several plastic containers which easily go inside the cart. I chose stamps, stencils, and specialty items according to what I plan to make that day. My scissors, adhesives, and small hand tools are in a small hand tote. I also have a small box to hold my finished or nearly finished cards which I keep in the cart. It’s always fun to go out to craft with friends.
When I first saw your card, I assumed you had white heat-embossed the image, which turned out to be exactly what you intended to do before you saw the actual stamp lol. I’m not planning on doing any crafting on the go, but I did buy combined sun and reading glasses last week, so that I can do some pencil colouring out on the shaded terrace. Thanks for the chance to win.
Wow! Awesome cards!!! Your colouring is simply breathless!!!
I usually craft only at home because I would need a lot of tools! But I like so much colouring mandalas when I’m away from home during summer holidays.
Fun “Good Vibes” release. Your card is super, I like the faux watercoloring you’ve done. I will be on a road trip next month. I plan to stamp images, bring my Zig markers and watercolor pencils to color the images and my scissors to fussy cut what I can.
I don’t usually stamp on the go, but recently started going to a get together with a few other stampers. I pre-stamped some images and took my Zig markers with me to color while there. Brought them home and made several nice cards with them. I will be doing this every other month, so it is interesting to see what others have said they take with them.
Lovely! I like how each one turns out a little differently with this technique. I also have to admit I don’t craft on the go that much! I like the comfort of my air conditioned craft room with all the supplies I could possibly need in one place for crafting :)
Great coloring! I usually just take items for a specific project I already heve in mind.
