I have a monthly video feature, Doodling With Debby, on the Simon Says Stamp blog and I’m sharing here too in case you missed it. I’m all about the leaves with these two cards based on the same design idea and both using the Tropical Leaves and Big Greetings 1 stamp sets. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Monstera leaves are proving to be particularly popular and trendy at the moment, be they the actual plant grown at home or used as in stationery, pattern design and fabrics. There’s a lovely Monstera leaf in the Tropical Leaves set from Simon Says Stamp, and I chose to pull out my green inks and get stamping! I picked Beanstalk Green, Green Leaf, Evergreen and Seafoam inks and used them to stamp four leaf images multiple times. I then used the matching dies to die cut the leaves.
For the sentiments, I used the Big Greetings 1 stamp set and stamped the sentiments on Slate card with Clear Embossing Ink, before sprinkling with White Embossing Powder and heat setting. I trimmed the sentiments to a banner and foam mounted them on a panel of white card cut with a Wonky Rectangle die.
With one card, I arranged the leaves spraying out from behind the banner, and with the other card, I used the leaves coming in from the edges of the panel to frame the sentiment. In each case, I kept the leaves in place with foam adhesive.
I then attached the panels to top folding white card bases cut from Neenah Solar White 110lb weight card and embellished with Butterfly Kisses sequins. These cards were so simple to put together, and yet I think they provide a big punch. Also, green is my favourite colour, and I’m always partial to a lovely leaf!
Which version do you prefer, leaves spraying out from the centre, or leaves pointing in from the edges?

Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
These cards are stunning! I love the tropical feel and the slate card works so well against the collection of greens! I’m only just getting into stamping but this is a gorgeous look I’ll aim for x
These are so beautiful. Its surprising (at least to me) how lovely they look and there isn’t a flower in sight! LOL
(I do love beautiful flowers but I have to admit, these are just as beautiful!) Well done Debby!
I know, no flowers! I must admit I often enjoy playing with leaves more than flowers!
Beautiful colors. My favorite is the leaves spraying out from the center.
Your cards are fabulous Debby! I love the colors and that it’s all leaves. So cool. It’s too difficult to say which design I like better, I love them both! Thanks for sharing your lovely artwork with us!
Two stunning cards that I could not believe that you put together in less than 10 minutes. Stamping 4 of each leaf type and die cutting these and rearranging them onto a white card stock stitched panel. I love large sentiments too and these that you have chosen look spectacular in amongst the foliage. :O)
Ah the deception of video Lorraine. These are relatively quick and easy in the scheme of things, but not under 10 minutes. That’s video editing for you. Someone else asked me how long cards take to make and moving forwards I will try and keep an eye on the clock so I can give a realistic estimate :D
