Today’s post is part of a blog hop organised by Lea Lawson in memory of her son, Layton, with the aim of raising funds for parents with children in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Units). Reading Lea’s story leads you on a rollercoaster of emotions from the lows of total heartbreak to the highs of strength and the desire to help others. I strongly urge you to read Lea’s story and join in with the hop, card drive and if you can to raise funds. The fundraiser aims to donate Starbucks gift cards to NICU parents. During their time at NICU with Layton, Lea was given a gift card and
… that gift card felt like someone was also thinking about us, and trying to help take care of us too.
More on the blog hop below, but for now on to the card I created.

INSPIRATION
The above moodboard is the inspiration piece for the hop and was created by Lea when planning Layton’s nursery. Along with the moodboard, there is a theme of encouragement. I particularly found the round Layton’s Legacy logo inspiring and knew the From The Roof Tops set by Simon Says Stamp was perfect for this card. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I created a shadow box style of card by layering die cuts with foam adhesive separating each layer. I die cut the Evergreen Circle die from White card and then die cut around it with a Stitched Square. I used the From The Roof Tops dies for the mountains, adding masks to the mountain tops before blending Smoke ink and then die cutting with the mountain die.
For the moon and stars, I blended Duckling ink on White card and then die cut with a Nested Circle for the moon and the stars from the Large Holiday Shapes die set. I then blended Winter Sky ink over a panel of card and trimmed it to be slightly larger than the white Stitched Square.
I selectively ink blended Laurel Green ink over the trees and curved a sentiment from the You Got This set around the circle window and stamped it in Smoke ink. Please see the video above as to how to get the perfectly curved sentiment.
I compiled the shadow box on a white square card base, using foam adhesive strips between each element to give lots of dimension.
BLOG HOP
Not only is this a fundraiser, but also a blog hop with MANY stops along the way! See the thumbnails below for all the stops on the hop.
