Oh my goodness, it’s a busy week for Simon Says Stamp! Yesterday, there was the release of the Limited Edition Mother’s Day Card Kit. You can find the kit here, and I have a blog post detailing what is included in the kit in case it is sold out, and you want to search out individual items from the kit.
Today there’s a new Fluttering By release (more details below), tomorrow and Friday there will be fun blog hops to celebrate the new release and then finally on Saturday, the 14th on the month heralds the May Card Kit! Phew! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
SIMON SAYS STAMP FLUTTERING BY RELEASE
Let’s take a look at what’s in the new Fluttering By release.

Check out that gorgeous Center Cut Flowers stamp! You’ll never guess what I’ll be using for the blog hop on Friday, and with a video ;) I love skinny sentiment strips, and the Messages For Everyday set is going to be a firm favourite with me from now on. My daughter is graduating from High School soon, and I have plans for the fun Rad Grad set from CZ Design. Of course, there are more in the Picture Book die series, with the debut of the Picture Book Lion, Squirrel and Otter.
PICTURE BOOK LION
When I saw the Picture Book Lion die I immediately started humming songs from the Lion King, and imagined a hot African sunset from the iconic film images. Hakuna Matata! I set about blending a background with Duckling, Clementine, Crimson and Deep Purple inks and splattered with Perfect Pearls solution for interest.
I used the ink blended panel to back a Stitched Oval die-cut window which I then mounted on a white card base. For the Picture Book Lion, I didn’t have quite the right colours of card I was after, but I did have inks. So I blended scraps of card with Duckling, Orange Slush and Rosie Cheeks and die cut the various lion pieces from them. I die cut an extra face and mane and added that on top of the original with an action wobbler. I also added extra ears and noses pieces which I mounted with foam adhesive to give the Lion lots of dimension and interest. Finally, I added googly eyes to give this little guy real character.
I die cut the Whoa! You’re Amazing!! die from black card and foam mounted over the ink blended sunset. I then stamped a sentiment from the You Got This set in clear embossing ink on Black card and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny strip and mounting along the bottom of the oval die cut window. The black strip grounded the lion, which I foam mounted on top. Finally, I added a few Crystal Reflections sequins to embellish.
It seems life can be tough as a kid these days and I thought this fun action wobbler lion with a positive message would be great to let someone know that they are amazing and whatever is troubling them will strengthen them in the long run.
