The clocks changed here in the UK over the weekend, so how about some cute bunny action using the Doodle Egg Background and Oh Bunny sets from Simon Says Stamp to take us in to spring! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.

I thought the Doodle Egg Background would be perfect for some heat emboss resist watercolouring. To get the best stamped impression, I used Arches Hot Pressed watercolour card and stamped the background in clear embossing ink before white heat embossing. I then used Daniel Smith watercolours to paint over the heat embossing. The raised lines resist the watercolour which pools and puddles in the wells of the embossing to give a lovely varied background. I used a soft rainbow of colours – pinky peach (Quinacridone Coral + Quinacridone Gold), rich yellow (Mayan Yellow), spring green (Green Gold + Sap Green) and turquoise (Ultramarine Turquoise). I started with a wash of clear water with a broad flat brush and then brought the colours onto the wet paper letting the water do it’s work and gently blend the colours together. I then dried the panel and added a second more intense layer of colour. To the wet layer, I also added Finetec Sterling Silver which mixed with the Daniel Smith colours to give a lovely sparkle. Once dry I also splattered the panel liberally with a solution of Perfect Pearls.
I die cut a Stitched Oval from Ivory card and foam mounted the frame over the watercoloured panel. It was then time to get those bunnies out! As the owner of two rabbits, I do like to include bunnies in my crafting. Using the Oh Bunny stamp set, I stamped three rabbits in Rosie Cheeks, Duckling & Spring Rain and then die cut them with their matching die. I added a white Darice pom-pom to each for their cottontails, kept in place with a glue dot.
For the sentiment, I combined two phrases from the Oh Bunny set and stamped them in clear embossing ink on Slate card before sprinkling with white embossing powder and heat setting. I trimmed the sentiment with a scalpel and ruler and then foam mounted on the lower right corner. I lined up the three rabbits above the sentiment and again kept them in place with foam adhesive. Finally, I mounted the panel on to a Desert Storm card base and then accented the card with a trio of Pretty Pink Posh droplets.
