I have a quick post to share with you today. There was recently a new Waffle Flower release, although I didn’t have the time to take part in the celebrations due to our half term break away, Nina still kindly sent me this Biking Girls set which I fell in love with as I adore the nostalgic illustrations. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I started these cards by stamping the images from the Biking Girls set in my favourite dye inks. One of the things I love about dye inks is that they smooth out as they soak into the paper and dry. However, that property proved tricky with these delicate illustrations as I lost the detail. So I dug around in my inks and pulled out some pigment inks. The pink and light blue are Mama Elephant – Blush and Winter respectively. Whereas the deeper blue and olive colours were very old Versa Color cubes which I’m not sure are even sold now – Celadon and Bamboo.
The grey for the bike is Mama Elephant Moonlight with the sentiment from the Lacy Flower set stamped in Dark Storm on the blue and pink card and in Versafine Smoky Gray on the blue and olive card.
I trimmed the white panel to fit the width of an A2 Desert Storm card base and then added a strip of card coloured with the blue from each of the cards. I then foam mounted the panel on the kraft card base.
I’m afraid the pictures really don’t do these gorgeous illustrations justice. We are suffering a nasty snow storm at the moment. As I type this my husband has just spent 5 hours getting home when the normal journey time is 30 minutes. Although I’d like to think that the snow will be naturally bouncing the light around, I usually find it gives strange colour casts and I don’t like my pictures as much as normal. Oh well, seeing as the snow will be with us for a bit longer I’ll just have to make do! Come on spring, I really could do with you making an appearance now!
