SIMON SAYS BEST DAYS RELEASE
Let’s take a look at what’s in the new Best Days release.
|
Oh, there’s such a lot of Spring goodness to love in this release. The Even More Spring Flowers set was bound to be a favourite for me (see the sneak peek below). I’m also loving the bold graphic designs from Cathy Zielske: You’re Da Best and Emphatic and as a planner lover the Bubble Tracker. Also, how about those new Watercolor Colouring Sheets with their own Daniel Smith paint dots to watercolour them in. There are 6 in the series – Star Medallion, Flora, Feather Kaleidoscope, Floral Lace, Lace Heart and Heartful.
PICTURE BOOK DIES
I do so love the Picture Book die series from Simon Says Stamp and am delighted to see new additions to the fold with the Picture Book Lamb, Picture Book Croc and Picture Book Walrus. Not only that but we have the accessory die, Picture Book Sky Background too. I chose to use the Lamb and Croc for my cards today for a cute spring card and a happy birthday card, respectively.
To start let’s look at the Picture Book Lamb spring card. I die cut the lamb from white card and lightly coloured with Copic markers. I added a pair of wiggle eyes and a little black glaze pen to his nose.
I also die cut the Picture Book Sky Background from Sea Glass and White card. I adhered the blue background to a scrap of white card and then foam mounted the clouds before foam mounting the lamb on top.
I then foam mounted the focal point over a panel of Echo Park patterned paper cut with a Wonky Rectangle die and again onto another piece of patterned paper. I wrapped twine around, tied into a bow and then added to a Fog card base. For the sentiment, I stamped a phrase from Spring Seeds in clear embossing ink on patterned paper and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny banner and foam mounting below the lamb scene.
For my second card, I used the Picture Book Croc die. All the time I was making this I was thinking of Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile – such an iconic children’s book. I used the same Echo Park patterned papers for this card as I had for the lamb card. I die cut the Picture Book Croc from several of the patterned papers and also white card for his teeth. I added a couple of wiggle eyes and then foam mounted him on a Nested Circle of patterned papers.
I die cut the Birthday Circle die from white card and trimmed before manipulating it to fit the edge of the circle die. I also die cut a Big Numbers die from white card and added that to the circle. To complement the birthday sentiment I die cut a Tilted Banner from patterned paper and stamped in clear embossing ink a sentiment from the Floral Bliss set and then white heat embossed before adding the banner overlapping the Croc.
For the background, I embossed a panel of white card with the Tim Holtz Dot Matrix embossing folder and added it to a Fog card base. As a final embellishment, I added a Balloon die cut from more of the patterned paper.
I hope you enjoyed this look at these new Picture Book dies. If you enjoyed these cards you can see others I’ve made here, here, here, here and here.
