Hello! Today I’m over on the Altenew Blog for their February Inspiration Challenge. I’ve used Altenew’s Hibiscus Bouquet set and coloured with Faber Castell Polychromos; more details below. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
ALTENEW FEBRUARY INSPIRATION CHALLENGE
How about this bold pop of colour focal point to chase away the winter blues! I took the photo for today’s graphic last spring in the Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh. It’s an Azalea flower, but as I didn’t have an Azalea stamp, I chose another with prominent stamen, the Hibiscus.
The inspiration graphic inspired me to plan out a card with a dominant floral focal point. I stamped elements from the Hibiscus Bouquet set in clear embossing ink on Strathmore Toned Gray card and then coloured the image with Faber Castell pencils. I find one key ingredient when colouring with pencils is a good pencil sharpener. I use one by T’Gaal and like the way you can vary the length of the point.
I added a few white gel pen dots to the flower centre for highlights. For the sentiment, I die cut a Script Word ‘love’ from Ivory card and foam mounted over the flower. I added a coordinating sentiment by white heat embossing ‘and hugs’ from the Sketchy Floral set on Black card, trimming to a skinny banner and then foam mounting.
Finally, I added the coloured panel to an Ivory card base and added Neat & Tangled Pretty In Pink sequins to accent.
I look forward to seeing what inspires you from this graphic. You can find all the details on the Altenew Blog.

Thanks Cheryl, I struggle sometimes to leave hard lines; it’s so tempting to blend everything but I think the detail adds something
