As a crafter, I find this time of year fun, as the last of the Holiday cards and wrapping come to a close, we move on and look to the New Year and Valentine’s Day. Then again, saying you love someone doesn’t have to be a once a year thing LOL. The first card kit from Simon Says Stamp for 2018 is filled with all the hearts and a delightful colour scheme for whichever occasion you chose to tell someone you love them. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.

YOU’RE MY FAVORITE
So on to the card I made, which uses a combination of the Really Like You kit stamp set along with the Pebble Inc Forever My Always papers. Firstly, let me apologise for the photographs today. The kit arrived yesterday, and I ran out of light to get photos taken and then we ended up at the emergency vet with my daughter’s guinea pig. I’ll be back to the veterinary hospital with her again today I’m afraid, and so I had to take the photos with my video camera lights. Yuk, no natural light for these! However, poor photos are better than no blog post, so here we go! I started by blending Worn Lipstick and Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide inks over a piece of Neenah Solar White card and spritzing it with water to give some highlight spots.
I then stamped the ‘You’re My Favorite sentiment from the Really Like You set in clear embossing ink and white heat embossed before die cutting with a Nested Circle die. I also stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink two of the larger hearts and one of the rectangular phrases from the stamp set and trimmed them out.
Moving on to the patterned paper and I trimmed out a red heart, red and pink strip of hearts and mint banner from the Pebbles Inc Forever My Always papers. I also die cut a small Nested Heart, rubbed it with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and then dunked it in the delicious Vintage Platinum Distress Glitter Dust. I coated it with a layer of Crystal Glaze just to make sure I didn’t have glitter sprinkling off everywhere.
With all the elements prepared, I cut a Wonky Rectangle die from white card and mounted it on a white side folding card base. I then added all the elements with foam adhesive, positioning them in a loose diagonal across the card. I added a few Snowfall sequins and one Vintage Chic sequin too. The reason for the Vintage Chic sequin was that I always like to have a colour on my card more than once so I had two pops of mint (banner & sequin), two pops of red (patterned paper heart and heart strip) and three of black (hearts and valentine’s phrase). I paired the finished card with the Metallic Cotton Candy envelope from the kit. It always feels good to get a matching envelope sorted.
