This card came together while looking at the ‘soft socks’ sentiment in the Hello Winter set from Neat & Tangled and the scarf of the Fa La Llama. I began thinking of soft woollen scarves and socks, and I do love a lovely striped woollen! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
I stamped the sentiment block from the Hello Winter set three times in clear embossing ink down a panel of Hot Pressed watercolour card and white heat embossed.
I then roughly watercoloured stripes (see supplies list for colours used) and let the heat embossing resist the paint. When dry I splattered with a solution of Perfect Pearls.
I also stamped the llama from Fa La Llama in Versafine Onyx Black ink and watercoloured the scarf and blanket in the same colours as the striped background before die cutting with the matching dies.
The sentiment is from Merry Kisses, and I thought it went well with the warm woolly feeling I was going for with this card. I stamped the sentiment in clear embossing ink on black card and white heat embossed before trimming into two banners.
I also die cut a circle from ivory card and then it was time to put this card together.
I added all the elements with foam adhesive to a card base cut from ivory card and then accented with sequins.
BEAUTIFUL ART BOOKS
A little while ago I shared about the Print & Pattern book I found really inspiring and I know a number of you enjoyed reading it too. You can find that book at Amazon US and Amazon UK.
You can see a few of the cards inspired by this book here, here and here.
Well, I’ve recently purchased two other books which I thought you might find interesting also. I’m a huge fan of Jenna Rainey, @monvoirco on Instagram and love her watercolouring and was very excited to find her new book, Everyday Watercolour, Learn To Paint Watercolor In 30 Days. I’ve already started working my way through the book and am finding it a thorough look at how to watercolour starting with the basics and working up. You can find that book at Amazon US and Amazon UK.
Finally, Amazon recommended this book, How To Draw Modern Florals, when I was purchasing Everyday Watercolor and again I follow Alli Koch on Instagram I thought I’d give it a try as I’d still very much like to draw more myself. You can find that book at Amazon US and Amazon UK.
I plan to share more on how I’ve found this two new books and the details of my watercolour pad and sketchbook as I work my way through them :D I’m an eternal learner and love exploring, experimenting and expanding my knowledge be it online classes or good old fashioned books. What’s your preferred way of learning?
