Today’s post is part of a blog hop to celebrate Mama Elephant’s 5th birthday! More on the hop below but for now let’s jump into the two cards I’ve made today using the A Beary Christmas and Puffy Holiday Greetings sets. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. A BEARY CHRISTMAS
I so enjoyed colouring these cute bears! I want to shout out to the awesome Kelly Latevola for the great tutorial on colouring for glowing objects. I stamped several of the images from the A Beary Christmas set in Intense Black ink and coloured with Copics.
I kept in mind Kelly’s tips and coloured the bears, leaving the highlights closest to the candle uncoloured, and then right at the end flicked in a warm yellow to give the glow of the candle. Once all the colouring was complete, I die cut with the matching dies and then added white gel pen, Diamond Stickles and Crystal Glaze details to the images.
To create my scene, I freehand cut a snowy slope from White card and foam mounted it over a White panel on which I’d blended Winter and Dark Storm inks and then splattered liberally with white gouache paint.
I then added all the images with foam adhesive and coloured some light shadows on the snow, so they didn’t appear to be floating in the air.
I stamped one of the fun Puffy Holiday Greetings sentiments in red ink, trimmed out and then added with more foam adhesive. Finally, I mounted the finished panel on a Slate card base.
For my second card, I stamped a selection of the images from A Beary Christmas, coloured with Copics and die cut with their matching dies.
I wanted to create an indoor scene, and so I used the Merry Mantle set to stamp, colour and die cut a fireplace and accessories.
I accented the colouring with a white gel pen, Diamond Stickles and Crystal Glaze.
I do love Crystal Glaze at the moment; it gives a super glossy shine.
I stamped a sentiment from the Puffy Holiday Greetings set in red ink and trimmed out.
For the background, I blended Blush, Winter and Dark Storm inks and then splattered with Perfect Pearls before adding all the images with foam adhesive and mounting the panel on a Fog card base.
