STAMPED STRIPED AND PLAID BACKGROUNDS
When I saw the solid stripe image in the Best Ever stamp set I thought I’d have a go at some striped and plaid backgrounds. I struggle for boys birthday cards and I think these patterns with just a few die cut embellishments fit the mark perfectly.
I chose a colour scheme of Cobblestone, Beanstalk Green, Goldenlocks, Orange Slush and Surf Blue and combined stamping the solid stripe with the row of hearts and Happy Birthday Strip from the Best Ever stamp set. I varied the gaps between the images to give variation and made sure to leave a slightly wider gap through the middle of the pattern for the die cut sentiment.
I blended scraps of card with the same colours of ink and then die cut the You’re A Star dies from the different colours. I adhered the wording with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and then added stars with foam adhesive.
I also added a couple of the Doodlebug Fairytale Sprinkles hearts too. The finished panel I added to a Fog card base and paired with a matching orange envelope. Then as a final touch I added a layer of Nuvo Crystal Glaze over the stars so they were as shiny as the Doodlebug hearts and set the card to one side to dry.
While stamping the striped version of this card I also stamped a second panel at the same time using my Misti to help me get perfect multiples. For the plaid version of this card I took that extra panel of striped background, switched the angle around and stamped a similar pattern in the opposite direction.
To embellish this plaid panel I die cut the Birthday Circle dies from white card several times. Adhered the layers together to make a thicker embellishment and then used Ranger Multi Medium Matte to adhere.
I used a more stars left over from the striped card and also a few Doodlebug Sprinkles dots. Once again I adhered the panel to a Fog card base and paired with a matching brown envelope before adding Crystal Glaze to the stars and leaving them to dry.
Well that’s the kit for this month. You can check out the September Card Kit and contents here.

PIN ME
Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
Boy oh boy, a good plaid pulls me right in every time! Both cards are awesome, Debby! I usually reach for sequins to embellish my card fronts but I’m quite smitten with your glossy, foam popped-up stars. They really add such a nice, shiny dimension. Just pinned this. :-)
So pretty and what fun to create with!
These are great Debby. I have just come from seeing these over at SSS and was curious how you did them. TFS.
I am enjoying both of your cards today. I am curious in knowing how you address the dark brown envelopes so that they will go through the mail. Thanks for sharing.
Wonderful cards!!
Very nice cards, love the color sceme. Thanks for the idea!
Hi Debby ~ I’m a sucker for plaid and I love the colors you’ve chosen to create them with. I also struggle with masculine cards and these are perfect for any man in our lives. Thanks so much for the inspiration! ~HUGS~
