I’m very much enjoying playing with the new products from the Encouraging Words release from Simon Says Stamp. Today’s card uses the gorgeous Kaleidoscope Background paired with the You’re A Star Dies. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
The detail in the Kaleidoscope background is simply stunning and to make sure I didn’t lose any of that detail I white heat embossed the image on Hot Pressed Watercolour card. This is smooth and takes stamping better than Cold Pressed card, although I often like the latter for the texture it adds. However, for this card I felt the Hot Pressed Watercolour card was my best option.
I used a trio of Daniel Smith watercolours (see supplies for specific colours) and loosely watercoloured over the embossed design. The embossing resists the watercolour allowing the raised embossed design to show above the watercolouring. The colours I used were inspired by Kristina Werner and in line with Kristina’s watercolouring I added Finetec watercolours too. I used the paler Moon Gold and also for variation the richer Tibet Gold, allowing them to mix and blend with the Daniel Smith colours to give a beautiful iridescent background.
When dry I cut the watercoloured background with a Wonky Rectangle. I didn’t want to cover up too much of the lovely background and so I used a smaller Wonky Rectangle die to cut a panel of vellum on which to adhere the sentiment. I swept clear embossing ink over a scrap piece of white card and then heat embossed with Antique Gold embossing powder. From this I then die cut the You’re A Star die and cut a few extra stars from the scraps too.
I adhered the sentiment to the vellum with Ranger Multi Medium Matte and then added foam adhesive behind some of the stars to add the vellum panel to the watercoloured panel. I added this panel to a Marshmallow card base and then as a final touch I squeezed a few droplets of Nuvo Ivory Seashell Crystal Drops to accent.

Summary of the project which gives all the views of the card in one photo :D I’d love if you pinned and called by on Pinterest :D
Wow! Just fabulous! The touches of gold watercoloring throughout the kaleidoscope BG really set off the embossed sentiment and diecut stars beautifully.
Ooops, I meant gold “diecut sentiment” (not embossed) – apologies!
Stunning background.
