Today I’m taking a look at the new Altenew August release. This post is part of a blog hop (more details below) to celebrate the latest release. The new release is available now at both Altenew and Simon Says Stamp. There’s more information on the blog hop below, but for now, let’s take a look at what’s in the new release. ALTENEW AUGUST 2017 RELEASE
|
In addition to the above selection of stamps and dies Altenew has also released storage pouches!
- Large Storage Pouches 10 pack
- Large Storage Pouches 25 Pack
- Medium Storage Pouches 10 Pack
- Medium Storage Pouches 25 Pack
The pouches are made of a thick, sturdy material and I particularly like that they have a zip closure so nothing falls out. I’m storing my stamps and matching dies in the same pouch and I really appreciate how neat, tidy and secure they are.
STRIPED LEAF
I’m often drawn to leaves over flowers and the Striped Leaf Cover Die has a gorgeous repeating pattern of leaves. I loosely watercoloured a panel of watercolour card in a green/blue/yellow colour way (see supplies list below for specific paints) and splattered with Finetec gold paint.
I then placed the Striped Leaf die over the watercoloured panel and ran it through my die cutting matching. I also ran the die through my die cutter with a scrap piece of card which I taped to the front of an Ivory card base and then used this as a template to piece the watercoloured leaves in place with foam adhesive.
I die cut the thanks from the Script Words 2 dies from DCWV glitter card and foam mounted over the leaves.
As a final touch, I added gold sequins and Nuvo Bottle Green Crystal Drops.
CHARMED
For my next card, I used the beautiful Charmed set. I loosely watercoloured a gradient of Blue Apatite Genuine watercolour paint on a panel of Hot Pressed Watercolour card. Once dry I stamped the floral image from the Charmed set in Clear embossing ink and then white heat embossed.
I then went back in with the paint and deepened the colour over the floral areas. I also added a little Finetec gold paint to the flower centres and some of the leaf shapes. I then splattered the panel with some of the Blue Apatite Genuine and Finetec paints.
For the sentiment, I used the More Than Words set and white heat embossed one of the sentiments on vellum, trimmed to a strip and wrapped around the panel, securing on the back.
I added the panel to a Marshmallow card base and embellished with sequins.
