This is the last post in my mini inspiration series. I hope you’ve enjoyed a look at what inspires me. I’ve saved a hugely inspiring artist for this last post – Emily Jeffords. I have bought a couple of her abstract landscapes before (one for myself and one for a friend) and they are so beautiful!

Emily has three styles of painting; landscapesmixed media and watercolours. It was the latter group which inspired these cards; Emily paints the most gorgeous outlines of leaves in a rich indigo watercolour that just makes me swoon! I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.

My drawing skills are limited and although it might look easy to pencil in a few fronds I know how difficult that is in real life and so I turned to the Circle Leaves die as a template. I cut the die from scrap white card and then drew around it with a pencil on to watercolour card. I then used Daniel Smith Blue Apatite Genuine to paint around the outline. You can see the watercolour stage here. I did share progress videos on Instagram Stories but they disappear after 24 hours :(

I wanted to keep the accents to the watercolour minimal and so I die cut a Love die from navy card, adhered it with foam adhesive and then coated with glossy accents to give it a little pop from the background. I completed the sentiment by stamping the ‘sending’ from the Love stamp set in clear embossing ink on Slate card, white heat embossing and then trimming to a banner. I again added this with foam adhesive and while the foam adhesive was out added the watercolour panel to a Fog card base.

As a final accent I added a couple of sequins, these are a sneak peek of a new sequin pack coming to Neat & Tangled soon!
