Father’s Day is just around the corner and for my card today I used the Big Dad die from Simon Says Stamp combined with Distress Oxide inks and returned to a favorite masculine colour combination – green, orange and blue. The colours are bright and fun yet have a definite guy vibe to them. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
This clean and simple card was straight forward to put together. I blended Peeled Paint Distress Oxide on to a scrap of Neenah Solar White card. Then pressed the ink pad on to my Ranger craft sheet and spritzed with water. With my heat tool continuously working over the piece I dabbed it in to the inky solution, dried it off a bit, dabbed some more etc until the ink blended piece had lots of variation in colour and texture. I spattered water over it and lifted some of the colour with a paper towel and lastly splattered it with a solution of Perfect Pearls. Placing this green piece to one side I then repeated the process using Spiced Marmalade and Broken China Distress Oxide inks. With my three pieces of inky card now ready I ran them through my Big Shot with the Big Dad die.
I stamped a sentiment from the Mom And Dad Icons set in clear embossing ink on Black card and white heat embossed before trimming to a skinny banner. In preparation for accenting my card I squeezed droplets of Nuvo Crystal Drops on to my craft sheet and left to dry overnight. The colours I used were Gloss Apple Green, Gloss Ripened Pumpkin and Gloss Caribbean Ocean.
In the morning with everything dry, I foam mounted the letters to a white woodgrain textured panel, foam mounted the sentiment on top and then accented with the Nuvo Crystal Drops. Once dry these pop off the craft sheet so easily and I simply added a drop of Multi Medium Matte to keep them in place. The finished panel is foam mounted on a Fog card base.
