Today’s post is part of a fun blog hop to celebrate the new Cherished Release from Simon Says Stamp. More on the hop below but lets take a quick review of what’s included in the Cherished Release. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.
SIMON SAYS STAMP CHERISHED RELEASE
I chatted about my favourites from the release in my blog post yesterday if you’d like to check that out.
SUMMER FLOWERS
The Summer Flowers set immediately drew me in as I’ve loved the other sets in the series so much – Winter Flowers, Spring Flowers and More Spring Flowers. I was particularly drawn to the Bird Of Paradise – I’ve never coloured one of those before. Do you call them Bird Of Paradise? I think they are also known as Strelitzia or Crane Flower.
On a piece of Strathmore Toned Gray I stamped the Bird Of Paradise in clear embossing ink and then followed up a fair amounting of masking of each flower as I stamped the next. I managed to squeeze in a Hibiscus and Gerbera as well as a second Bird Of Paradise and a selection of leaves. Oh and I did use a stem from the More Spring Flowers set too.
This exotic bouquet was now ready to colour and I picked out my Prismacolor pencils as they are nice and soft for lots of lovely blending of colour. After colouring I accented a few areas with a white gel pen and glitter pens and then cut the piece with a Basic Square die. It’s a while since I made a square card and it makes a nice change to mix things up occasionally.
I used the Thoughtful Messages set for the sentiment, stamping the ‘thanks’ in clear embossing ink and then white heat embossing. I finished the card by tying twine around the panel, foam mounting it on to a Marshmallow card base and then accenting with sequins.
Envelope Greetings is a new set which I think will get a lot of use. I pulled out my old stash of 12 x 12 card and cut and scored an envelope in a deep raspberry colour which I thought went well. I used a corner rounder to round of the corners of the envelope flap and then partially stamped one of the Envelope Greetings phrases across the flap and white heat embossed.
A matching envelope really does take a project up a notch I think and makes the recipient feel extra special.
STAR MEDALLION STENCIL
Yesterday I highlighted the gorgeous Star Medallion Stencil from the new Cherished Release. You can check that post out here.
