I’ve a fun post today looking at new layering dies and card kit from Altenew. This post is part of a blog hop (more details below) to celebrate the latest release of Altenew’s stamps and dies. The new release is available now at both Altenew and Simon Says Stamp. There’s more information on the blog hop below, but for now let’s take a look at what’s in the new release. I’ve linked all supplies, compensated affiliate links used.
Altenew Card Kit + Layering Dies
The layering dies are so fun! There are three designs – Floral, Cityscape and Medallions and in addition Inline Alpha Dies and a Card Kit too.

- Frame die, hearts and stars die

LAYERED FLORAL COVER DIE A & B
The layered dies are great to die cut and layer, but they are also fun to use as a mask to create a layered ink blended look. I die cut the Layered Floral Cover Die A from spare card and blended Coral Berry, Ruby Red and Warm Sunshine inks on to two pieces of Neenah Solar White card. Before lifting the mask I spritzed with gold sheer shimmer spritz.
I then die cut the Floral Cover Die B, lined it up with the ink blended pieces and blended Ruby Red, Grapevine and Warm Sunshine through this die cut with a heavier hand. This adds areas of shading and dimension to the petals.
I kept the rest of the cards really simple. For one card I die cut the Inline Alpha letters from white card to spell ‘You’ and stitched these to the panel before stamping the ‘amaze me’ from Floral Frame in Versafine Onyx Black ink to complete the sentiment. I then added a sprinkling of sequins to finish.
For the second card I stamped the lovely sentiment from Build A Flower Camellia in Versafine Onyx Black ink and added a line of stitching underneath and also a few sequins dotted around.
The beautiful gold shimmer is hard to capture but hopefully you can see it clearer in this photo.
Not to waste anything, I used the Layered Floral Cover Die A mask with the pretty inks spread all over it to create a quick and easy tag. To keep the theme I added a line of stitching and a few sequins before threading with black twine.
LAYERED CITY SCAPE COVER DIE B

I love the graphic design of the Cityscape dies. I die cut the Layered Cityscape B die from black card and then layered it over an ink blended panel.
For the ink blending I used Warm Sunshine, Coral Berry, Lavender Fields, Persian Blue and Sapphire before splattering with a good dose of Perfect Pearls solution.

I die cut a heart from card blended with Coral Berry, adhered with foam adhesive and added a couple of layers of glossy accents. I also die cut the ‘Miss You’ using the Inline Alpha dies and added those too with foam adhesive. the finished panel is mounted to a side folding white card base.
