Today marks the start of the Neat & Tangled sneak peeks for March! The new release will go live on Friday 10th March. I always love Elena Roussakis’ illustrations and the Yo Ho Ho set is no exception. I’ve a video below showing my rusty Copic colouring and my first look at the new Distress Oxide inks. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links used.

I started out by stamping a bunch of the images from Yo Ho Ho on Neenah Solar White card with Intense Black ink and then coloured with Copics. I also used Copic spica pens for the sparkle on the telescope, sword and hook and a white gel pen to add a few highlights. I then die cut the images with their matching dies and put them to one side while working on the background for the card.

I was excited to find a reason to try the new Distress Oxide inks from Tim Holtz and thought the Broken China colour would be great for a bright sky and Fossilzed Amber for the sandy island. I added the inks on to a square of Ranger craft sheet, spritzed the ink with water and then dipped white card in to the ink. I started to dry the card with a heat tool while spritzing and splattering more water to get the lovely watery layers you see. I also splattered my favorite solution of Perfect Pearls too for added variation and sparkle. I then used an A2 Card Curved Edge die to cut the shape for the island. I stamped a sentiment from the Yo Ho Ho set in Lipstick Red ink and then cut with a Basic Banner. With all the elements now complete I adhered them to a white card base with foam adhesive.

I love how this bright and colourful card turned out with those cute Yo Ho Ho pirates on a splashy Distress Oxide background. The new Neat & Tangled sets including this Yo Ho Ho set will be available from Neat & Tangled and Simon Says Stamp at 8am EST on Friday 10 March :D I’ll be back on Friday with a look at the whole release.
