I hope you are still with me, this is my third post of the day! Click to see the Simon Says Stamp Spring Release and Waffle Flower Spring Release. To finish this day filled with Spring inspiration I’m excited to announce that Altenew have expanded their range to include Stencils and Ink Sprays. This post is part of a hop with giveaways which I’ll get to below but for now let’s jump straight in with a look at what’s new. I’ve linked all supplies at the end of this post. ALTENEW STENCILS & INK SPRAYS RELEASE
The new products are available at both Altenew and Simon Says Stamp. I do love a good stencil and there’s a gorgeous array of styles to choose from. Altenew are renown for their florals so it’s great to see the Floral Drape stencil, then you’ve got modern and on trend with the Halftone and Sketched Lines stencils and I love the ingenuity of the Layered Medallion A and Layered Medallion B stencils. To complement the stencils there are the new Metallic Shimmer Ink Sprays and let me tell you these are shimmmmmmery! Seriously gorgeous. The day the new product arrived with me I was so tired and although I wanted to jump right in and play, my creativity was sapped by a busy day. However, I thought a little organising wasn’t too taxing and so set about creating swatches for the new sprays. I was so inspired by the beautiful shimmer that before you knew it I had the stencils out and was spritzing and splattering and made a bunch of backgrounds!
LAYERED MEDALLION A + B STENCILS
In my haze of shimmery samples the first stencils I reached for were Layered Medallion A and Layered Medallion B and combined these with Sea Glass and Ocean Waves spray inks on Neenah Solar White card.
I must admit that I got a little carried away with my spritzing and was about to start again but I simply loved the way the stencils and inks layered to give variation in tone with even a few white areas of the base card showing through.
I thought this colorful background would be great to showcase a beautiful, simple outline floral image from Best Mom. I stamped the flower spray in Versafine Onyx Black ink and then die cut with the matching die and paired it with one of the set sentiments stamped in clear embossing ink on Black card and white heat embossed.
SKETCHED LINES STENCIL
For my second sample I wanted to stick with the gorgeous array of blue spray inks and thought I’d use them in a different way, by combining them with embossing paste.
On a craft mat I scooped out a little Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste with a palette knife and then spritzed with two squirts of Sea Glass spray ink. I then used the palette knife to mix the spray in to the embossing paste. On a piece of Neenah Solar White card I spread the inky paste over the top third of the Sketched Lines stencil. I then add a spritz of Ocean Waves to my already blue paste and mixed that in to get a deeper tone which I spread across the middle of the stencil. Finally I added half a spritz of the darker Dusk spray ink to the paste and mixed it in before finishing off the lower third of the stencil.
I love the gradient of colorful lines this technique created and paired it again with a flower spray and sentiment from Best Mom.
